Oh, I don't know, Batty. What I tend to find is the bigger the venue, the dearer the tickets, yet the worse the gig. For me it should be the other way round. I'm well happy with the ticket price given the venue. Oh, and we will get that pint.Batman wrote:I'll be there Brucey
though £22.50 is an outrage

Wife handed me a CD she got from somewhere or other, tonight's fare:
"Good Mood Music" a mish/mash from Bruce Channel, Drifters, Edwin Hawkes, Jose Feliciano etc etc, through to Vivaldi, Greig, Verdi, Fower Duet from Lakme, Clarence Jefferson etc. Easy enough on a headache.

I've jussed secured a couple of tickets for The Charlatans at The Academy in May. None of this vacuous MEN arena bollocks. None of the appalling acoustics of a former train station. The Academy, the finest gig venue on earth!
fecking get in!
Must agree though, that the smaller the venue the better the gig in general. I remember seeing Peter Bjorn and John at the Roadhouse a couple of years ago, and The Spinto Band at Academy 3 - absolute class

That's true. A couple of my favourite venues are the Citadel in St Helens, which holds about 200 and the Railway Arms in Greenfield, just outside Oldham which is basically just a room above a pub, but where they have some of the very best acoustic artists on. Unfortunately, the website for the latter is down at the mo. I hope that's not a bad sign.Verbal wrote: Must agree though, that the smaller the venue the better the gig in general.

Just been listening to a bit more Sir Richard Bishop. Odd fellow, but he can't half play a guitar.

That's a new release, TD, I think. The Jack Rose chap mentioned on the same page isn't half bad either.TANGODANCER wrote:Still have a tinkle of that one from time to time LGM. There's a website I saw somewhere that lists the requirements of visiting "stars". When you read the ridiculous demands you'll understand the ticket prices. Quite mind-boggling.Dujon wrote:Hey, TANGO, Santana's in town (well, my town). At AUD300 for me and wife I don't think I'll be listening tonight. Where do they get off with their prices? Quite incredible.
