Was surprised to see this shop open, being so near to "Academy of Sound" and "Johnny Roadhouse". Must do okay though because they have a massive stock and the prices aren't the cheapest.warthog wrote:Interesting. Less than 70 of those were made and there must be few still in existence.TANGODANCER wrote: There's a 1938 Gibson Spanish guitar in the Oxford Road shop I mentioned. They daren't put the price on it. Just says "Ask"
which is very ominous.

Really? I always thought they went for more than that!TANGODANCER wrote:Was a Gresch White Falcon for sale in the guitar shop on Oxford Road not long ago. about seventeen hundred pounds if I remember.FD wrote:The only two guitars I never managed to get in my collection that I wanted was a Rickenbacker and a Gretsch White Falcon! Rickenbackers are stunning!
Stunning guitar though! Originally my favourite ever guitar was a Gibson Les Paul Custom in alpine white, nicely yellowed with age, but after seeing one of these:

I like the penguin too, but the falcon is just stunning.
I do own a Gretsch in a similar style, the bigsby is nice but they truly are a pain in the arse.

Can't honestly remember now, maybe it was £2750. Lovely job though.FD wrote:Really? I was thinking the same - Townshend has had some great ideas but many an artist has lost his marbles when given free rein. Listened to the album in the tourbus just the other day and it's well worth an ear as it is. That said, I'll concur that it would have been much more frequently cited in history had they been allowed to carry out their original plan to have the concrete obelisk urinal on the front as a Marshall amp...Lord Kangana wrote:Probably would have been another 'Rock Opera'. To be fair though LK, they didn't go too far wrong with "Tommy" or "Quadrophenia" though.
I am somewhat biased on this, having basically been brain washed with the virtues of the Who by an ex-mod father, was forever telling me how I was born the day the greatest drummer in the world died, and I have an inkling wanted to give me the middle name "Moonie".
