+1

Spent most of last night on multiplayer with a mate 'jousting' in helicopters and shooting each other off tall buildings with rocket launchers.

I liked the radio stations in San Andreas more though.......but that's only a minor gripe.

Being slow only managed to get GTA IV yesterday. Managed to fit an hour in between getting home from work and pulling my thigh playing football, but was dang impressed with what I saw.

Yeah...lot of effort for something a bit pointless really.

Completed it the other day. Still not a 10/10 for me, the same old game faults are there, dodgy camera, melee combat shit, no checkpoints in long missions, samey missions. They at times focus too much on the theatrical aspect and not the actual gameplay aspects. For example, when you take a corner in a car you have to use the right stick to make the camera follow, sure, if you don't use the right stick it LOOKS nice but as for actual gameplay it makes you more often than not smash into another car. Also, why is the "chase" cam (for vehicles) just slightly too low? Half the time I'm driving I'm holding the right stick down as well to raise the camera to an acceptable angle.

Solid 9/10 for ambition, but at times the execution just isn't there. This won't stop the critics and reviewers absolutely wanking themselves into a frenzy over it. It'll probably be game of the year as well, it seems an evolution, not a revolution. They've made a living breathing city and upon watching the credits there are simply thousands of voice actors alone (I was absolutely blown away watching the credits, ridiculous amount of staff!) but they've done that at the expense of the actual gameplay sometimes.

I HATE the fact I have to spend 10 minutes (real time) driving to a mission only to get half way through, die and have to do that ALL over again. How hard would it be to put a checkpoint system in the longer missions?

However, Niko Belic is probably one of the funniest and most likeable characters in a game for a long time. Not often you'll find me laughing out loud at a game's dialogue, but it happened with GTA IV.

Sounds like I'm having a go at the game, I'm not, it's wonderful, 9/10 for me and I've spent a long time playing it and I'm still playing it online...just pointing out there are faults they SHOULD have improved upon, but haven't.

Won't be going for 100% though as the "hidden packages" (read flying rats) are too difficult to find, couldn't be bothered with it to be honest.

I found a load of pigeons using this map, but it is still difficult to find em.

as for the driving, that does my head in a bit too, any long distances i have just been hailing a taxi, and then skipping to location - spent a friggin fortune!

Still a long way to go myself though i think, i just did the interview mission for felix last night, the one where you have to wear a suit - took me friggin ages and after buying all the clothes in Persus, i still could not get in. eventually i sussed out it was because i had my shades on!

Yeah I've seen some of the maps for the pigeons but I just can't be arsed.

Was gonna do the stunts, got em down to 29, but some of them I can't even see with the use of a map or when I do find them they are stupidly hard to achieve. "Not good enough" appears and you've got to work your way back to them and try again. I wouldn't mind but there is absolutely not clue to the criteria of what makes the stunt "good enough".

The more I play it the more irritable I get, I do love the game but it annoys me people can look past some incredible glaring faults in the gameplays mechanics. Surely what makes a game the best is it's playability?

found this bad boy to find the pidgeons

and while i,m on here, i gotta say i aint that impressed with gta 4, controls are a pain, still believe san Andreas is the best, think most games are being over hyped, like this halo 3, rainbow 6 2 vegas, army of 2, only cod 4 and gears of war have been justified, games like bully, viking are good value and are under rated, well thats my opinion anyway.

Sadly you don't give up socialising with the characters EVER.

Even when you've finished the game they still call you and want to go out and if you refuse or let them down you lose the special skills you gain from them liking you above 75%. Not that it matters THAT much I suppose. Even if you get them to 100% they still want to go out, if you don't take them out then their "like" for you drops and if it drops below a certain point you lose their special skill so you really do have to keep it up.

The social aspect of the game is the most irritating of all though, it's infuriating to have friends that are SO needy. I get rung by a friend to go out, say no, another rings wanting to go out. There is a workaround for this though, when they ring you to go out ACCEPT the offer. Then ring them straight back and cancel, they don't lose any "like" for you then and you don't have to go out.

I just had a fairly long session this afternoon trying to get all the stunts done, got it to 6 left but the game has just worn me down, I can't be arsed any more.

Once the story is done, the incentive to play on is lacking and the frustrating controls, poor camera angle and popup mess just shines through and makes you lose the passion to carry on.

It's rather odd in that it gets worse the more you play the game (on 360 at least). I assume it may be a caching issue, dunno.

Basically, cars, bikes, all sorts just pop out of thin air in front of you or behind you. The worst case was one a mate told me about, having a gunfight between him and the cops, no bullets hitting anything, then suddenly the rest of the world popped in between them, cars, all sorts just appearing because the textures hadn't loaded properly.

I didn't notice it too much at the beginning, but nearer the end of the game (and after completion) by god is it noticable.

Bully is good. A really good, and most importantly fun game got lost in a heap of controversy. But I don't think I'd pay for it again on the 360. I already have it on ps2 and it's same game with a few extras and achievements. Not worth the thick end of 30 quid when the ps2 version is going for less than a tenner pre-owned.

It's widely reported so I don't know how it can be everyone has a dodgy copy, mine certainly isn't a dodgy copy. Besides which (presuming you are referring to dodgy copies meaning pirate ones?) as far as I understand it, copies are just that...1:1 copies so would be no different. Admittedly I'm not an expert on the subject but I'm pretty sure they are 1:1 copies?

It could well be a problem isolated to certain 360's since they've gone through so many different models now, who knows. I know several people who have had the problem (like me, none of which have "dodgy" copies) and it's happened later in the game.

It's not exactly game breaking but it is annoying and to be honest I'll forgive it when the environment is so huge! The worst I had was when I went in a burger shot and the counter was 2D and flat...wondered what the hell had happened then suddenly the 3D version popped in!
