Umm, Dead 60's supported Morrissey the other year, as did the Ordinary Boys.

McFly supported Busted, that was a wild gig.

Dunno what year it was but before Muse had their first album out they did a gig where Coldplay supported them (no album out yet either). Obviously they both went on to be massive.

They were both actually very very good that night.

Lost Prophets supporting Linkin Park at MEN about 5 year ago. They were utter shite. But for some reason I like the songs theyve had on the radio.

i saw no doubt , less than jake and hooberdtank supporting greenday in manchester in 2002 but they were all established bands by then.

Kill Hannah supporting Aiden at Manchester Academy were awesome though ... the crowd was very young so i felt really old

not really seen any gems. seen travis a few times with stephen fretwell, keane and the doves supporting. fretters and keane before they made it big and doves was just before their "last broadcast" album was due out

Turin Brakes (supporting David Gray)
All about Eve (supporting Simple Minds)
and Cast (supporting Shed 7) were all belting.

The best though had to be Newton Faulkner who was far and away better than the main act Paulo Nutini.

Somebody supported Paul Weller a few years ago called Nic Armstrong and the Bad Thieves. They sounded great so I bought their album on the strength of it. Absolute 5hite.

I can't remember who was headlining but we were playing at UMIST in Dec 77 and one of the support bands on with us was a band called Frantic Elevators. A very interesting lead singer. His name? Mick Hucknall.

He's a competent vocalist and doesn't come across (to me anyway) as a nob when interviewed.

Maybe it's because he looks like a scruffy old tramp and still got to shag Catherine Zeta Jones in her prime.

Talking of shite support bands - the worst, well wierdest was German techno mentalists Atari Teenage Riot supporting Nine Inch Nails @ Brixton Academy in '99.
45 minutes of ear splitting white noise and feedback while Alec Empire the "vocalist" screamed and growled into the mic.
It got the crowd fired up though....they were ready to kill 'em.
