Not noticed that in the single player yet, but had a lot of trouble online today with lag and things popping up and vanishing at random. Really annoying.FD wrote:It's rather odd in that it gets worse the more you play the game (on 360 at least). I assume it may be a caching issue, dunno.
Basically, cars, bikes, all sorts just pop out of thin air in front of you or behind you. The worst case was one a mate told me about, having a gunfight between him and the cops, no bullets hitting anything, then suddenly the rest of the world popped in between them, cars, all sorts just appearing because the textures hadn't loaded properly.
I didn't notice it too much at the beginning, but nearer the end of the game (and after completion) by god is it noticable.
Don't call it a comeback

i understand where you are coming from, i may well get it later in the game, who knows, hope not, lol, could well be the 360, i just had a new lens fitted in mine, as it werent playing games, plus the cheeky gut modded it too, but i,m not that bothered, as it will be cheaper for me in the long run, its not as if microsoft are losing out on money.FD wrote:It's widely reported so I don't know how it can be everyone has a dodgy copy, mine certainly isn't a dodgy copy.
It could well be a problem isolated to certain 360's since they've gone through so many different models now, who knows.
I know several people who have had the problem (like me, none of which have "dodgy" copies) and it's happened later in the game.
Hate to tell you this but I had a new laser fitted in mine less than 2 months ago! A local friend did it so it only cost me £15 and I didn't lose my 360 for 2 weeks!
Wouldn't worry too much, texture popup isn't uncommon, it just looks worse in a game like this.
Off the top of my head, Gears of War does it occasionally in multiplayer and Mass Effect was horrendous with it when starting a new area.

Incidentally BoltonBhoy, effing hell how did you get such a high amount of achievements for UEFA Euro 2008? I got so pissed off with the stupid online mode where people only play as France that I couldn't stand it any more.

May 8, 2008 - IGN first speculated about the possibility of a BioShock movie, based on 2K's best-selling videogame, back in August. Then rumors began to circulate that Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy helmer Guillermo del Toro was involved. He flatly denied the reports, and the buzz quickly died. Now, however, the project is officially underway with another director, Pirates of the Caribbean's Gore Verbinski, in charge.
According to Variety, Verbinski has been hired by Universal Pictures to direct and produce the film. The script will probably be written by John Logan (Sweeney Todd, The Aviator) if a deal with the scribe can be worked out.
It's not yet clear how closely the movie will mirror the game, but it's a pretty cinema-ready property, so we don't expect much of a departure. The setup goes like this: An eccentric genius named Andrew Ryan creates an underwater utopia called Rapture, gathering the best and brightest scientists, artists and industrialists of his day and relocating there with them. Decades pass and by the time Jack, an aircraft crash survivor, sets foot in Rapture, Ryan's idealistic vision has devolved into a horrifying remnant of a failed society. The decaying art deco city is now littered with corpses, genetically mutated humans, and bio-mechanical monstrosities. The game was largely inspired by Ayn Rand's classic Atlas Shrugged.

it took a while, with people quitting and all that, but did it, not that hard, just need to keep at it, its alot harder with the lower seed teams, but if you keep at it, it will come.

1. use the component sockets ?
2. theres a firm called madcatz that was gonna do an xbox specific adapter here-
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Madcatz-HDMI-Co ... 455&sr=8-7
, this is a similar one- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Simply-HDMI-Con ... 580&sr=8-1.. for video devices.
2b. or getting one a them super duper video converter boxes with every socket ever on might do it.
3. buy another xbox and sell the old one after youve transfered your stuff across. ?
me, i'd probably do the 3rd if your xbox has bust already previously .. it'll be newer, guarantee, and all - rather than arsing about with no2 .. the wallet friendly first one will only work if your tv has the old component sockets on it.

Don't get confused by all this HD jargon Batman. EVERY 360 is HD compatible, you just need the right cable.Batman wrote:Just bought a new HD telly, and lookin to hook it up to my 360 - allegedly some of the older consoles don't have the HD cable slot, and mine appears to be one of these - anyone had this problem and found a work-around?
To get a HD signal from the 360 to the HDTV you need one of three cables :
Component cable (phono looking leads with 5 cables on the end, 2 sound, 3 video)
VGA cable (like a PC monitor cable)
HDMI cable (digital cable, only compatible with the newer 360's and the "Elite" model)
It's all down to personal preference but I use Component as my 360 is older. Unless you have a 50 inch + TV you are not going to notice the difference between the cables. VGA can be trickier to set up and you can end up with a worse looking signal as the colours may look washed out. Component is the easiest and best bet if you don't have a newer model 360 as you just plug it in, go to the settings on your 360 and set it to either 720p or 1080i. (720p will probably look better).
DO NOT BUY on of the madcatz HDMI conversion kits as they are an absolute waste of money. If the output on the back of the 360 isn't HDMI then you are buying an expensive bit of kit that DEGRADES the signal as it's forcing more processing to be done.
Bottom line, if you have an older premium 360 then you already have a component cable, so use that. If you have a Core 360 you will need to buy a component cable.
ANY HDTV should have VGA, HDMI AND COMPONENT, if it doesn't then you've paid money for a shit TV. Component is not "old" technology at all.
Also though, DO NOT buy a new 360 and transfer the stuff across, if you do this and have bought any stuff from live (Live Arcade games etc) they will ONLY work if you are online, otherwise if you try and play them offline they will appear as trial versions. It's a problem with the digital rights management on the 360 and it pisses a LOT of people off. Transferring data to a new 360 is only worth doing if your old one is knackered. You'd have to go through the incredibly laborious process of ringing Microsoft customer service to get the old data linked with the new 360 and they are TERRIBLE on the phone.
Newer 360s are just as prone to red lighting (dying) as the older ones, I know a lot of people who bough the new "Best ever" Elite model and it died after 2 nights.
