If Brownie follows the Bolton model expect a lot of 'swansong' players like Windass, Barmby, Campo and Okocha with some youngsters taking the step up. They will be tougher than Derby, I'm certain, and have a bit of money behind them too, apparently.TANGODANCER wrote:Just been talking to a Hull supporter, highly euphoric right now, which is prfectly understandable. Says however that they need to target the easier games next season in order to progress....like Bolton and Wigan..I remeinded him that both are capable of upsetting major applecarts occasionally, like taking points of the top boys. Don't think it went in, they're up here to win it.......yeah?
I have wished Hull good luck but I think we should, now, start seeing them as what they are, a club battling to survive in this league next season and are therefore the enemy.

It's really good to witness the excitement and genuine euphoria which this achievement deserves.
That's what we had & the years of success, via attrition, of the Dudley Bung-Taker drove out of us.
I wish them well, but, as Enfield says, we now need to see them as competitors. They now enterr the world where they will see Bolton, Wigan, Fulham etc. as "easier" games. Well, they therefore also enter the world where they look at the fixtures and genuinely think "shite ... where on God's Eartyh are we going to get a point ??".
If you want to gauge their real chance of success then look at the fact that they are talking of trying to put a package together to attract Ivan Campo there as their highest paid player.
This is the very same Ivan Campo who, God bless his little cotton-socks, despite my love for him has lost his speed and we have, righly, decided to let go.
If they also think Dean Windass can do it at the next level, or Nicky Barmby ... then I fear for them.
I wish them nothing worse than they be 3 places below us come May 2009, I really don't ... but they are capable of making Derby's recent season look like quite a good one.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I think they're a much better side than Derby to be honest. Windass will do a job for them away from home, when under pressure they can lump a ball up to him and make it stick, if they can get Frazier Campbell to sign he could terrorise defenders at the KC.bobo the clown wrote:It's really good to witness the excitement and genuine euphoria which this achievement deserves.

it was suggested campo has lost his speed, I assumed this didn't mean "pace" as he never had any. I therefore assumed the "speed" must relate to amphetamine sulphate, commonly used in diet drugs and colloquially known as "speed", what with him being a lardy bastard.bobby5 wrote:Hmmm, translation please.communistworkethic wrote:what speed did campo ever have that wasn't for trying to shift a few excess pounds?

Seconded.TANGODANCER wrote:I really wish the man well. He never wanted to leave Bolton and, basically a striker, was played for a good chunk of a season at full back. He never moaned and always did his best. Good luck to him.
I was a big fan of Pedersen. Nice guy.
Good luck to him

Just thought I'd bump this one up.
Anyone taken a bet on Hull going down? Anyone thinking about it? And where does it leave our chances when we go there soon?
Fair play to Brownie an all that..

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Superb result for them today against a team that our Leige decided to strap five across midfield against, at home.
They've got Chelsea next followed by a trip to the toast rack, so it's going to be very interesting to see how (a) they get on against them both, and (b) if the wheels come off then as to how they deal with it.
