Going to be Mr Unpopular for this, but ...

This is a football site and we ain't kids. There is however a forum rule about "Work Safe and Family Safe material. This includes avatars as most of you well know. Few of us over fourteen haven't seen down a woman's blouse or up a skirt; kids employers, workmates and partners however, might not be too amused to think we're perusing porn sites when we come across things that shouldn't be there. This is a "if the cap fits" situation to avoid silliness in asking "Who me?" in pretended innocence. Let's keep it sensible for the benefit of all hey?

SLF in a classic pose up the side of Newcastle City Hall for me (well, except for that you can only see the tip of one of Jim Reilly's brothell creepers and a bit of his Cromby!). Absolved! :P

and this needed a whole new public thread rather than a polite PM to the member(s) concerned, because?

seems a long time to wait before you complain about this...

Moderating is not much fun: A bit of a thankless task really, so let's not be blame shifting as I have done nothing amiss here. It needed a thread because we have new members who may not know the rules, and members who are not new and know them very well, yet still ignore them. If anybody wants to take over as moderator, just let me know and I'll put it to the admin. I won't lose any sleep, I can assure you.

Bollocks to that Tango.

Commie, change it please or I'll find a way of changing it for you - permanently. And I really don't have the time or inclination to piss about with this tonight. (Or would you rather i PM you?)

Guys, guys, guys. Can we just calm down before it all kicks off, please?

There is a facility to disable all of this guff within one's own profile.

Personally I have aviators and sigs blocked on my work's laptop but on the home PC, well, bring it on!

This is nothing to fall about, there are facilities in place to deal with it.

Let's move on.

I'm calm. :| I'll delete the thread in a couple of days when any new members have read it.

Best Commie avails himself of the facility then Bruce. That goes for any other dodgy avatar. TD's got a good point here.

Actually, the way to deal with most phobias is to face it more and more, LK. I've mastered the fear of flying but I'll never conquer vertigo. (Does that make much sense?) Aviator is a "Gertie-ism" for whatever the correct term is for those little pictures. She's one of my "fabbiest" pals away from this place.

Crikey malikey. Have I disputed that? Deary me. It's for the individual to disable such stuff. Of course, if you wish to dissuade posters from posting suchlike then fine, but it's within the control of the recipient as well.

Well said.

You can disable avatars for individual users from the admin panel. (Go to user admin then management)

If we didn't have middle aged men behaving like they'd never seen a bit of minge before, it wouldn't be necessary. Sadly, that isn't the case.

I'm beginning to think that this is a thread in which people are actually trying to fall with others by dint of them having a stronger case of agreement!

Aye well unfortunately, Tango appears to be like that.

Coincidence that TD objects to my avatar that shows no more than DLH's or less than you see at a swimming pool or gym, oooh no, it's due to the fact we've got a new member. I expect to see this posted again for every new member.

Zulu should have just stopped his post with "Bollocks Tango", it was perfectly accurate there, given that comments on this topic have been in Site Development previously and, as I pointed out, if someone had an issue with an avatar a polite pm to them would have sufficed, rather than a a whole new thread or as pointed out, it could be disabled, but then again that's only what one might expect from someone whose roll it is to be moderate. Sadly that isn't the case.

It's not about what you go looking for around swimming pools or in gyms, Commie, as you well know.

Please change your avatar as requested. When DLH reads this I hope he changes his too. If not, he will be requested to do so. This is an issue that is much easier handled if self-policed. Mods need to nudge on occasion. I think that's what Tango tried to do.

I really don't want to have a row with you all morning about this. It's not going to happen.
