City fans must be getting nervous

Today the first case against the Thaksin family was concluded. The Verdict? Thaksin wife was convicted of fraud and tax evasion and sentenced to 3 years in jail along with her brother and secretary.

Thaksin looked an old man today as he watched his wife's verdict being read.

Tonight bottles of Champagne will be flowing in my pub. I am over the moon regarding this ruling. Within the next few months up to 3 trials will probably be concluded against Thaksin and his wife. He is guilty as sin in all the cases, and his only chance is to buy off the prosecutors. The judges can't be bought since the King has basically ordered them to do their job. In other words don't take any bribes.

Thaksins only chance now is to amend the constitution, and then throw all cases against him out of court claiming them as unconstitutional. This has been his only defense from the start.

City fans may now be wondering what is going to happen to their beloved club. Sure he has s hit loads of money out of the country, but if the club is no use politically to him, it is no use to him period. Also the fit and proper person issue will come up again with the FA. Technically I think his kids own the club, but they also owe something billions of baht in taxes which up till now they have refused to pay.

I know this is boring to most of you, but for today at least I am a happy man.

"I'm sorry to say this, as a life long fan and - for the last few (for me at least) unforgettable months - employee, MCFC as we know it is finished. Here are the FACTS, for those who really want to know. Thaksin is, as of midnight 10th August, 2008, an international fugitive.

He now has to be found guilty of corruption in Thailand in his absence, offering no defence. Extradition requests will surely follow. The PL will then have to find him short of the fit and proper ownership rules (and believe me, the pressure for that from fellow 'members' has been growing since June).

Thaksin is trying to palm off City onto whoever will now take it, an insolvent mess of a business, completely incapable of sustaining itself. The truth is that the only interested party (until recently) - Wardle - is not now able to bail City out now , he cant come close on his own and no partners have been found. The wage bill and commitments due on the last 2 years' transfers have spiralled out of control.

The Corluka affair is the last straw - I personally worked on the deal and can assure anyone interested that he has already been transferred to Spurs. Spurs have this evening started legal action, and he will be barred from playing for City following an injunction in the courts tomorrow.

Personally I expect Hughes to then resign on principal (he has no choice now, he is on record as saying that he will have final say on all transfers). Many wont believe any of this, but a few will.

I am very close to this situation (readers will never know who I am or how close - a few would know my name but it inst appropriate to for me to come 'out') - trust me, I am close enough to know what has happened in the last fortnight, I am pissed off with it (as a fan, and as someone who has worked hard for the club during the last 18 months or so) and it must be said, a little drunk.

I am posting this message on a few sites - apologies for those that keep reading it, but I want City fans to know what is happening. The sad truth is we are finished, and that as a result, the PL will be facing its biggest challenge since inception within 2 weeks of now."

Well I won a bet at least. This story could become a lot of fun. What Thaksin says about the courts in fact is true. This has been the case for over 2 years now, of which no case has gone in Thaksin's favour. The tide turned against Thaksin the day the king gave the judges a right bollocking. He blamed the problems in Thailand, not just recent history, on the judges and the corruption within that system. As a result he is always being called in to solve the mess even though it is beyond his powers as King. Basically the King told the judges to do their job. Thaksin's only defense is it is unconstitutional to charge him and his family.

Thaksin is guilty of so many crimes that they could keep the courts full for the next 50 years. Thaksin's next case is to the supreme court, so if sentenced to jail he MUST serve time. This is why he has skipped town.

Of course City fans are worried about him being cash strapped. Well he is building his own casino resort on his Island in Cambodia, so finances are not his concern. Regarding assasination attempts well he loves to play the martyr. I can't remember how many times he has pulled this stunt. Mind you I think several million Thais would love him dead.

If he passes the team onto his kids, well they owe Billions of Baht in taxes themselves.

As I said before, City fans should be getting worried.

The Supreme Court Monday issued arrest warrants against former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his wife, Khunying Pojaman.

The Supreme Court issued the warrants after the couple fled to England instead of returning to Thailand to attend a court hearing in the Ratchadapisek land purchase case.

The Supreme Court's Criminal Tribunal for Holders of Political Positions said the couple broke their promise to return to the country to attend the trial so the courts issued arrest warrants against them.

At the risk of scoring a half a pint on Gertie's ale-o-meter, I get taken watching FC Midtylland when I'm in Herning (so long as they're playing, of course) and if Massive Citeh have just ignored this lot as being a bunch of Danish rubbing rags then they deserve to lose both rounds. When a club of Midylland's modest stature finishes higher in their league than FC Kopenhagen then surely it should ring an alarm bell somewhere, just laughably not at the Council House Stadium.
