Narr then. I've just bumped into the legendary Bolton Billy in Sainsbury's, and he's miffed to have missed the TW Open this year. I informed him that all is not entirely lost as we're looking to sort out another hack, probably round Southport, and he's well up for it so long as it's not on a weekend when he has the girls. Being as he has them on alternate weeks I've deduced that he'll be free for a round on the 14th Sept, a date which up to now suits Fatshaft as well. Wanderers are away at Fulham on the 13th so I'll drive back up after the match rather than staying down there.fatshaft wrote: late on but 14th Sept is a possible for me?
Who's up for Sept 14th then?
May the bridges I burn light your way

Yeah, I'm in.
Shame about Billy - I thought about texting him about the Open that I missed, but I've lost his number.

Southport was in mint condition last time I played. Hoylake muni was a bit on the tatty side though. Heard raves about Arrowe Park though.communistworkethic wrote:southport muni is a bit samey and a bit scruffy, how about Hoylake muni or Arrowe ParkBruce Rioja wrote:Narr then. I have to warn you that I know Arrowe park pretty well.
'Samey and scruffy' is definitely a description that could be applied to Arrow Park, in my opinion, but it does have the advantage of being convenient for me....

Arrowe's my local course and it's good for me as it has some wide fairways which means most of my wayward shots stay out the rough.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:I have to warn you that I know Arrowe park pretty well.

All the Wirral muni's are cheap courses but not exactly challenging.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Exactly, can we go somewhere Commie's ego will be punished, please?tony cunninghams willy wrote:Arrowe's my local course and it's good for me as it has some wide fairways which means most of my wayward shots stay out the rough.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:I have to warn you that I know Arrowe park pretty well.

Yeah, I'm in. Will hopefully be in good nick by then - I've a got a serious competition coming up a week tomorrow - the Hoylake Scratch Mixed Foursomes over the bank holiday weekend.
I've got an absoluter ringer of a partner - the best girl on the Cambridge team, she's off 1 and spent a year at Leadbetter's academy in Florida. Because of her filthy low handicap, we've actually been seeded 14 with our combined of 5.6, so we avoid the big guns for a couple of rounds (fingers crossed). I checked out the list of past winners yesterday, and it includes one Gary Wolstenhome, who won it a couple of years after beating Tiger Woods in the 1995 Walker Cup, and recently played in the US Open.
