yeah ok, if I can sort out my driving, putting, chipping and my fairway woods/utlities I'll be in with a competitive chance. In fact, sod it, I'll just play with my 5 iron, it'll be safer for all concerned.

Got to the last 16 couples out of 64 in that thing I played in last weekend, but we got seen off by the 3rd seeds... he was off +1 and his partner was off 1. Different class, really.
Anyway, what's the latest list of people in for the 14th? Can it not be Arrowe Park... it's not very good.... What are people prepared to pay? I am still a member at Northop http://www.northoppark.co.uk/ , which is no further to drive for people than AP, and I can get everyone signed in for £15 each if its only the usual numbers involved.... definitely worth the extra fiver, in my opinion.

Get on a train from Liverpool - Hooton with your sticks and I'll pick you up.blurred wrote:I'd be more than happy to try another course, and they're all as difficult to get to for me as any other if it's over the water (although this one is a fair few miles further coming the Liverpool route), so makes no odds

When was that then?Worthy4England wrote:For the uninitiated, Northop is well worth the trip - really enjoyed last time I went there. If you can do it on Mummy's sign-in, so much the better
Yeah, it's a decent track... not what it used to be but hey ho. The new hole we have as a result of legal dispute with a bloke who lives on the course is one of the worst golf holes I have ever played anywhere, but apart from that it's pretty good.
You coming this time, Worthy?

It the one around the legal dispute one that was shortened to a Par 3 (iirc) last year - can't remember whether it was Northop or Carden Park. I last played Northop, probably middle of last year.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:When was that then?Worthy4England wrote:For the uninitiated, Northop is well worth the trip - really enjoyed last time I went there. Yes, well that shortened par 3 is also a bit of an abomination, but the par 4 that now precededs it, and wouldn't have done when you played it, is far far worse. Basically, one has to hit about a seven iron from the tee, follwed by a four iron approach. That sounds suspiciously like the 10th at Heaton Park. A hole that generally requires a rather cultured approach by way of short iron to the perpendicular, then a longer iron to the green from everyone except our friend CWE, a chap that much prefers to take his driver to it and nice person it one over the trees with, it must be said, a great level of success (the fannymummywhycantieatcrayons wrote: Basically, one has to hit about a seven iron from the tee, follwed by a four iron approach. The first at Northop is a right-angled dogleg that needs something like a 4 iron to the bottom, followed by a wedge, or maybe the driver over the corner approach for the more adventurous. It's a pretty good hole I reckon, but similar holes that require the short shot first are a bit stupid, in my opinion.communistworkethic wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:That sounds suspiciously like the 10th at Heaton Park. Right, could do with confirmation of who's in if I'm going to book the tee-times... it is the Ladies' Club Championships that day, but it shouldn't be a problem.
