I was disgusted with the assault (it was never a tackle!) and I'm hoping the F.A steps in here which will place even more pressure on Newcastle. What a cockhead thing to do!
With all that said, how fxcking hard is Fagan. Certainly didn't look like his leg was broken the way he jumped straight up and went after Guthrie
I've no defence for the boy. He deserved a season long ban at the very least.

YOU CLIMB OBSTACLES LIKE OLD PEOPLE FXCK!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats what training with Joey Barton must do
On a serious not was a very very poor tackle, and deserves longer than a three game ban, but not a season long one. After what Barton and Roy Keane got away with, and Ben Thatcher, all repeat offenders, Guthrie should be looking at about 5. That said people said Cahill's was reckless, whether or not you actually seriously hurt a player shouldnt matter to your punishment, if the intent/recklessness was there.

Yeah it's Joey Bartons fault that Guthrie broke somebody's leg - Nothing to with the fact that he gets frustrated with how shit he is!Prufrock wrote:Thats what training with Joey Barton must do![]()

He went in for a couple of really bizarre lunges at people when he played for us. Was only a matter of time really...boltonboris wrote:Yeah it's Joey Bartons fault that Guthrie broke somebody's leg - Nothing to with the fact that he gets frustrated with how shit he is!Prufrock wrote:Thats what training with Joey Barton must do![]()

Aye, cos he's genuinely not a very good footballer. He probably doesn't understand why not, so he gets frustratedWorthy4England wrote:He went in for a couple of really bizarre lunges at people when he played for us. Yeah, coz i was being serious, as underlined in the next line when i said 'on a serious not(e)' which is what i always say having said something serious, before going on to say something else serious.
I dont think Guthrie is SHIT, hes just a bit average, he wouldnt be far off a place in our midfield for instance. I think it was more frustration at the team performance and the whole calamity around St James' (is it Newacastle or Exeter that's spellt like that?) Park. Should get a longer ban, but if Ben Thatcher got 7, he should be looking more at 4 or 5.

There was no difference between the Guthrie and Thatcher challenges except for where they made contact, they were both malicious and designed to hurt the opposition - A rule for all methinksPrufrock wrote:boltonboris wrote:Yeah it's Joey Bartons fault that Guthrie broke somebody's leg - Nothing to with the fact that he gets frustrated with how shit he is!Prufrock wrote:Thats what training with Joey Barton must do![]()

From a ressie report over a year ago. He was always recklless, but I was surprised to see such malice.I’ve long suspected that the comparisons to Steven Gerrard were more due to Scouse hyperbole rather than any realistic assessment of his abilities, and so it proved. In the early stages he reminded me more of David Thompson, such was his habit of entering into rash tackles which endangered both himself and his opponent. He’s a yellow card waiting to happen.

I remember it, something about him playing for a second rate club with aspirations above it's station?warthog wrote:boltonboris wrote:Get you, with your 'I told you so's'warthog wrote:From a ressie report over a year ago. The rest of it, which I didn't quote, was on the button too. I'd rather he'd turned into a world beater.

I disagree there. Thatchers was disgusting, Guthrie's was hot headed and stupid. You could see in Thatcher's eyes he knew exactly what he was doing, Guthrie lost his head in the heat of the moment. Im not defending Guthrie's tackle, it was tupid, and IMO deserves punishment above and beyond the normal three games, but i doubt that should Fagan have come through unscathed, that there would be the same reaction. The fact he broke his leg shouldnt make a difference. Guthrie's tackle was far worse than Martin Taylors but with far less serious consequences. Guthrie should serve a longer ban than Taylor did, but not as much as cold blooded assault from a man with previous.

heat of the fecking moment?? He chased him back 20 yards and kicked him across the shins from behind while he was all but in the corner, marked by another player. there was nothing but premeditated.
as for the reaction, there was already disbelief at the challenge and it of course the fact a player is seriously injured makes the reaction worse. The only difference would have been that Fagan was bloody luck not to have a broken leg.

Seems about right - remember him getting a 4 game ban when he was at Derby for stamping on Arbeloa when the ball had long-since gone out for a throw. Seems a nasty piece of work in general.Batman wrote:got a toon ST holder mate, reckons fagan was on the windup all game, and had it coming to himblurred wrote:Fagan is a dirty little shithouse too, though. Wouldn't surprise me if it were retribution for something earlier in the game.
still no excuse though
