nah it wasn't Simmy who set it up, it was his sister.hisroyalgingerness wrote:He got a job
She kind of went AWOL and never came back, think there is some back story but I'm buggered if I know what that was.
I asked if I could do something with the site and the rest is history.
I actually asked bwfc4u if I could do something for them as the site needed a bit of something extra, but then members such as Simbo, Bench and a few others (raise your hands) decided to break free and create the site your are browsing now.
:edit:
I don't think the dates are wrong, so yeah, HAPPY BIRTHDAY

I don't know why but Chris comes to mind.mofgimmers wrote:Ah, the 4U days... what was the guy called who ran it?
Whoever it was he turned down help from me and a lot of other people. Look where that got him! His last update was in 2005, 3 topics in the forum.
I'm pretty sure Bench and Co wanted to put an offer in for the site but he gave the some ridiculous price. He wouldn't be able to sell it for a pint and a bag of crisps now.
erm, offa me memory, chris bishop ?mofgimmers wrote:*Raises hand*
Four years eh? Bloody hell. Sometimes, it feels like it been around for ten minutes... other times it feels considerably longer! Still, good to see it still going strong!
Ah, the 4U days... what was the guy called who ran it?
maybe.
hahaha..

In answer to Keveh's locked thread, I came over from BB in the Great Exodus. Sluffy told me about TW so blame him. I also looked at WW but it wasn't my kind of forum - seemed to have too much juvenile swearing and WUMs (though I may have done it an injustice).

Well, I'd been on Bolton Banter and 606 for a while. I had a feeling that there was a better way so I did a bit of googling. I found this site and Wanderers Ways. I liked them both, but decided over a period of time that this one suited me best. I still kick around WW a bit. It still has things that we don't have on here - things that work better there than here and vice versa.
The Wanderer feels right for me - and I've now been a member for three and a half years.
Happy birthday site!

Used to kick around 606 in ,y kiddy days but then it suddenly became a fan-club for a guy called breadman. nothing wrong with the guy, just becomes a bit boring when all you read everyday is teenage delinquent, incomprehensible drivel, and sycophantic in-love. had a bit of a google, found here, read for a bit, then signed up and started spouting my own brand of ballacks. Think I'm getting towards the 6 month mark. My life is dull.

One of you lot (Mummy? Zulus? Bench?) kept spamming 606 with links to this site back in either 2004 or 2005. 606 had gone downhill at that point, so I had a look around, and signed in under a different name. Then work took me away from my desk for a while, and I didn't frequent any site for about 18 months.
Then, having found myself back in front of a keyboard almost permanantly 24/7, I thought I'd bother you lot. So you're stuck with me until Batman starts a new site where we can all burn virtual effigies of Megson, or this one goes under.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Ah the breadman loving. Used to post loads on there but that put me off a few months back as well so I hang around here instead nowadays and post and read when I can.Prufrock wrote:Used to kick around 606 in ,y kiddy days but then it suddenly became a fan-club for a guy called breadman. nothing wrong with the guy, just becomes a bit boring when all you read everyday is teenage delinquent, incomprehensible drivel, and sycophantic in-love. had a bit of a google, found here, read for a bit, then signed up and started spouting my own brand of ballacks. I browsed a number of sites 606, WW etc. and latterly here. Without really having the courage to post in case I was shot down in flames. (Like THAT would happen) I started posting on here when I recognised the strong desire of the site to encourage debate and welcome genuine enthusiasts to all things Bolton.
Happy birthday to us!
Weirdly, Zulu joined on exactly the same date, too!
