Covers

What is your favourite? There's the classics, the likes of Hendrix's 'All Along the Watchtower' and Jeff Buckley's 'Hallelujah'. Then theres personal favourites, and those you see live that just stay with you. What's the best over you've ever seen, or heard?

The one's that spring immediately to mind, although no doubt the list will be added to, are:

SLF's version of Mrs Marley's'Johnny was'

Biffy Clyro's take on Weezer's'Buddy Holly'

and Frank Turner doing The Postal Service's 'The District Sleeps Alone Tonight'

That it's going to lose its mind

Not Buckley, but John Cale's version of Hallelujah is class.

Other ones...Johnny Cash's version of Hurt is brilliant (though sjm may disagree with me :D).

The Futureheads doing Kate Bush's Hounds of Love is also brilliant.

Smells Like Teen Spirit by the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain.

More later.

The Killers' Shadowplay I think is superb. A very acceptable tribute to Joy Division

Also a fan of Romeo and Juliet off that album.

Nouvelle Vague doing Just Can't Get Enough is a favourite along with Hendrix AATWT.

Id forgotten about Futureheads, 'tis a good good cover. And that Ukelele Orchestra is AMAZING. Same song however, and a contender for WORST cover, one Batty posted somewhere a while back, horrendous

Back to good covers, surely this from Nirvana is up there?

Most of Nouvelle Vague's stuff works for me.

I'd say that this is certainly amongst my favourites.

Whereas this is a fecking hanging offence along with this

Indeed. Hence me referring to it as being a hanging offence. It's one of the biggest piles of shite that I've ever heard. Clear enough? :conf:

I always liked Led Zepp doing " Tie My Kangaroo Down, Sport" ... or have I got that a bit mixed up ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
