Sky Sports: Bolton agree fee with Newcastle for Nolan

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Not according to the Newcastle press. They are after Veloso as well!

No chance, Chaddy
haha why not, he's a player that would fit well into our system
They don't need to sell; they won't want to sell; he won't want to come.

Bitter sweet mate, bitter sweet!

Funny how all those that call fans who don't like Megson are now up in arms about a player who failed to progress for the last 3 years AND I might add becoming both suicidal AND abusive about it

BWFC WILL GO ON NOLAN OR NO NOLAN FACT!

If it opens the door for someone who contributes more than just press sound bites as captin I'm all for it!!!

He would.

But we would have absolutely no chance of attracting Man City's top performer this season.

No abuse intended mate, and to be honest I've been saying the move would be good for us, and in retrospect, probably both us and Nolan.

Providing the player we need comes in, of course.

A Scouser, and one of the most loyal players Bolton has has for many years and our captain to boot. Transfers have been mentioned in the past and he's always said he wanted to be here. The lads been abused, booed and generally treated like shxt for a fair old while by the same battalion of Megson Outers that inspire nothing but derision in others by their constant negativity. Little wonder he performs less than his best at times and nobody can rightly blame him if he does go.

After a lifetime as a Bolton fan, I'm living in an era I just don't understand. Progress, they call it.

With 4 days of the window left how likely is that though?

I'm not sure the "right player" is going to be available.

To be honest I feel pretty uneasy and frightened about the rest of this season now!

Would seem to suit all parties though (except Veloso of course, who it seems would happily go to anyone but us), Newcastle want to keep kidding people that they are a big club but don't want to spend much money. They can't afford Veloso, so cherry pick what is accepted as the best player from a smaller team, getting a discount in the process so they pull out of the Veloso race. We get the extra cash needed to buy Veloso. Sporting get the extra cash they want. Nolan gets a fresh start in a less comfy environment in front of fans that don't despise him.

Hunting for possible positives over the past day has been nigh on impossible, but i'm doing my best :)

If you want to discover a supporter who defends nolan but really would like megson's regime to end sooner rather than later - and the way he's talking about us, it will, you can't insult the fans repeatedly and remain manager - you only have to look my way. and I'm certainly not the only one. I'm with FD and Raven here, really feel bad about this move. And i NEVER boo our players, or join in chants against them, or the manager, just not me, but I don't want the misery of this ultra-cautious manager to continue for very much longer. And I want Kevin nolan to lead the fight against relegation. At Bolton, not newcastle.

I would imagine/hope something would be in the pipeline for us to accept this bid (let us not forget, we don't know if it has been accepted).

If not, and Monday comes and goes, well...like I say, I just don't know.

These next four days are going to be tense, that is for sure.

I am guessing the people who want him out are the same people who were chanting "...Ginger Mourinho...Ginger Mourinho..." at half time... then at full time "Gary Megson, your a w*nk*r... your a w*nk*r...". Some people are so fickle!

Tango I was one of the biggest advocates for Megsons head, he looked like he was turning a corner, still having a degree of skepticism 'bout him I thought "well give the guy a chance" but he swiftly resorted to type, he cannot throw off his total defensive outlook! I and others ain't half as negative as him.

Nolan has been dire in more than 70% of his games the last three seasons, not good for a captain and not worth a guaranteed place in the team week on week, hell he even makes himself unavailable a couple of games a season with his stupid bookings!

Maybe his place in the team was holding others back, we shall soon find out if this goes through.

One point if he is not a spent force why ain't BSA been after him? He knows him better than most.

Nolan's been performing below expectation for some considerable time. Assuming we don't get the world class attacking mid-fielder we've been praying for, will we be that much worse off? Perhaps the 4.5 million will be added to what we offered for Veloso so we can get him, or perhaps not. Kev doesn't score much, gets a lot of cards for dissent and has not been a positive factor on the field. I just don't know myself, not seeing many games. Perhaps Elmo can drop back and we can put KD and Makawhatsit up front. Maybe we can work Ebi in. When Nolan was "the first name of the sheet" it limited our options. So many questions, so few answers. Hopefully this will be a win-win situation and work out best for everyone.

Nolan is having an awful season and he was awful last year. Why are people so worked up about him leaving ? I don't think we need to replace him because he doesn't actually bring much to the team at the moment. I would be delighted if the money goes on Velaso but I doubt that will happen. I think if we are being offered £3m/£4.5m then thats a suitable offer which we can use in the summer.

Remember he has 10 yellow cards already this season (been suspended twice), but hasn't scored this season and it didn't look like we missed him against United or Arsenal.

Just hope Fat Sam wants him and we can rank the price up.

ditto. He is stale at the Reebok, but has been Bolton through and through forever. Good luck to the lad. I will watch with interest when the Nolan-bashers start crying that he's gone.

Allardyce always said there's no room for sentiment in football. Got to agree with him on that. 3 or 4 years ago I would be rubbing the tears from my eyes but instead I'm rubbing my hands with glee.
