What? No thread about the league leaders? Shocking

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

I think it's because Blurred started it, and as a visitor to the site, we don't want to upset him...

To teach people these strange concepts of irony, tongue-in-cheek humour and the ability to laugh at one's self? I dunno.

So are Hull, yet they've won at Arsenal and got draws at Liverpool and Chelsea. Of course, when Liverpool draw it's all over the media as to what an awful result it is and how Benitez has to go and doesn't understand the league. We'll see how much Scolari gets slated for this in comparison with Rafa - my money is on 'not nearly as much'.

Oh, and we're top again now, so the thread is right for at least another 5/6 hours or so ;)

Edit:

Case in point - I've just logged on to the BBC Sport page.

Main Story? Benitez stands by team selection
One of the next main stories on the left hand side? Treatment by Benitez difficult to take - Keane

Somewhere a bit further down? Wilkins defends Scolari tactics.

:conf:

scolari is getting his fair share of flak now. and arsenal getting beat by hull was all over the media

good win yesterday when rafa finally decided to put his better players on. you really need united to slip today considering it's one of the toughest games of their run-in. which shows exactly why they are such strong favourites.

If any other manager made such bizarre selections as Benitez does, then they'd be in the headlines. Fact is, they don't, at least not nearly as often as Benitez. Whenever Liverpool fail to win, it can easily be attributed to selection due to the frequency with which he changes the side.

I don't buy this thing that United have got some piss-easy run-in and we've got to face sides the likes of 1970s Brazil week-in, week-out. Our remaining fixtures are largely the same, apart from we've got them away and they've got us at home. They've got Villa and Arsenal at home, so have we. They've got a city derby match, we haven't. They've got more fixtures than us (FA Cup as well as League Cup congestion, along with games in hand that they already have), which doesn't make things easy.

But still, you believe that they've got some easy run-in compared to us, that's fine. Our stunningly difficult away fixtures that remain of Boro, West Ham, West Brom, Fulham and Hull mean that we've obviously got no chance. Of course, those aren't to be confused with Man United's easy away games remaining which include Hull, Fulham, Boro and West Ham.

But don't let facts or objectivity get in the way, eh?

Problem is though Blurred, it doesnt matter how easy your run in is, if there's is as easy. You've got to do the catching up and i think James' point is that there aren't many games you look at and think United will slip up. You lot can win every game until the end of the season and not be guarenteed to in the title. No matter how well you do, you need United to slip up, and at the moment they dont look like doing

did i say you were facing brazil of 1970 week in week out?

did i say anything at all about your run-in?

all i said was todays game is one of united's toughest on paper and you really need them to slip up because, as prufrock said, you are now playing catch-up and united are in fine form (something you aren't)

but don't let what i said get in the way of a rant, eh?

To be fair their run in is 'easier' purely because they're more likely to win more games than you..... because they're MUCH better than you

Handed to United with a nice bow wrapped around and a little note wishing them all the best.

Game, set and match. The scousers have choked massively.

Disappointing in the extreme, I have to say. Too many home draws against shitty sides that we should be beating, and even if we only turned 2 or 3 of those into wins (from the 7 we've managed), the whole thing would look a lot different. Still, onwards and upwards. It's a funny old game and all that.

Only if you sack Benitez. Otherwise you'll be getting title-winning talent like Darren Bent and Gareth Barry this summer.

Not wanting to defend Benitez or owt but surely thats more to do with the money the owners make available than anything else?

The sale of Keane without a replacement was a major cock-up though!

Thing is Liverpool have had more of a stab at the title than they have previously so thats some progress.
