Axis:Bold as love. He's become almost a cliché it the way that Thriller has in that they have (wrongly) beome indisputably ackowledged as the best, but christ that man plays guitar like no other. Little wing is the greatest guitar song ever written.
Immitated so well people copied his mistakes.
"Don't use your brain to play it, let your feelings guide your fingers."

In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

At the risk of incurring your wrath Doc, one of mine is Paco de Lucia, who did a tour with Di Meola and McGloughlin some years back. It was the biggest load of bollox I ever heard. Sorry.Dr Hotdog wrote:My favourite guitarists are Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin and Allan Holdsworth.![]()
Two of them Yorkshiremen!
Mostly this past few weeks I've been listening to Mastodon, Steely Dan, Grandaddy, Stevie Wonder and Return to Forever.

Memory's not what it was, but didn't one of them end up playing with a spoon? Not sure why. Maybe I'm a "tuneful" type, but some of that seemed just like "did you know there were notes like this? " I suppose it's one of the reasons I prefer Julian Bream to John Williams. Williams is technical perfection whereas Bream is more "human" if you can understand my logic. Not to say they aren't all genius's in what they do, just personal preferences I suppose. After my attempts, Hank Marvin sounds like Segovia. :Dr Hotdog wrote:Wrath fully incurred!
It's amazing! The CD - Friday Night in San Francisco is superb. Three virtuosos strumming and plucking their stuff! The acoustic guitar never sounded so good!

Mentioned em before, but been listening to this from Radio 1 Big Weekend
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/bigweekend/ ... hemachine/
Her first album is out on 6th July and is already attracting some rave reviews. Been bit worried that the hype and expectation would drag the debut down but based on initial responses this doesn't seem the case!

First drum part I ever learnt to play.
Or perhaps Going Underground. But I'm a little claustrophobic, so I might need a bell.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Sounds deeply intelligent from that title. More Viz than vid I'd think.
