Leek and parsnip soup (I made) Fish pie (partner made - great - salmon and cod). And, of course, tonight, Catalan white, what else? Torres VinaSol, on offer at Morrison. :D

It's not. There was an article about this conservation group in the Guardian or Observer a few months back. It was the funniest thing I've read in a long time. That Paul Parker came across as a proper nutter. You can see him in action on TV next week.

Don't know - but you can buy it from a shop in Corbridge.

Booze - more specifically, Peroni.
Food - more specifically, a quick bite at Barburrito on the go.....in between the Peroni!

Peroni,.... IMO the most overrated lager in circualtion. Try and get your hands on a bottle or 10 of Viru. Lovely stuff

That's a fair opinion Boris, however I actually love the stuff and have done for years. Over the last 12-24 months it's really come to the forefront, however as I said, I've loved it for years and enjoy every sip.....Christ I sound like an alcoholic with that last line.

Viru? Where would I obtain such a brew?

You realise, of course, that the first sign of Madness is Suggs walking up your drive?

There's a restaurant in London near Smithfield Market - St John's, it's called - which has famously served daft meat like squirrel.

I always thought they were taking the piss a bit - they do offal and tripe dishes and charge through the nose for them. This is because some people see them as trendy. Really? My granddad used to like tripe, but that was because he couldn't afford meat...

On a related note, a bloke wrote a roadkill recipe book a couple of years ago:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2006/jan/3 ... shidentity

And whilst looking for the link to that, I stumbled across this recipe for badger in blood:
http://www.gastronomydomine.com/2006/06 ... -stew.html

Marvellous.

I'm off for a pasta salad...

Various city centre bars, but strangely also Tesco stock it.. Cracking beer from Estonia, they've been drinking it for donkeys in Eastern and central Europe, we're late to catch on by all accounts

It has ben a tough week, working late quite a few nights - but not tonight. another couple of hours and I'm away...

On my way in I bought sea bass, jersey royals, leeks, asparagus and loads of other stuff from the market. Fruit, cheese.

And, especially, fresh mint and limes...

And on the way home a quick pop into morrisons for... a bottle of white rum and some soda water...

It's Friday night and warm and summery... and mojitos are compulsory...

The soup is french onion... Sea bass and fresh veg... portuguese white wine to go with it... a choice of cheese - feta, lancashire, blue... a glass of Spanish red...

Might finish with a nice, large brandy... TFIF!!! :D :D :D

In America they sell the ready bottled stuff, serve it with ice and mint leaves. Very nice drink. We tried some in a Cuban restaurant, supposedly the home of the drink, and they were absolute crxp.

Mine would, deservedly, be world famous. If i ever let anyone else have one. Loads and loads of mint, shake over broken ice, crushed ice in a long glass, one third alcohol, two thirds soda, and a blue sky... Life's ok sometimes...

Sorry, yes, run a chunk of lime around the rim first of course. Enjoy.

Wife bought a glass in Catalina Island with the recipe on it as follows:

2 oz light rum.
Juice of half a lime.
Six mint leaves.
2 tsp of sugar
Club soda (some times they use Sprite and omit the sugar)

Place sugar, 5 mint leaves and lime juice in a highball glass. Crush together with a pestle, fill with crushed ice, add rum then club soda to fill glass. Stir and garnish with last mint leaf.
