BYE BYE RONALDO!

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Why not? It'd be nice for Benitez to just laugh down the phone at them. Or perhaps accept the offer and get Gerrard and Torres to do it personally. Be worth a giggle.

Aye but Hicks and Gillete may feel they can't "afford" to turn down offers like that!

A lot of this discussion is based upon the assumption that Mr Alex Ferguson has decided to sell Ronaldo. Is it not possible that, given the state of the finances at the Theatre Of Shite, the decision wasn't made by him, but by those in charge?

There's a non-zero chance that MAF will be given none of the Ronaldo money to spend on new players...

Sounds to me more like he had a buy out clause inserted last summer. How much of the cash Fergie sees is open to conjecture.

Quite Puskas. But it would be funny if allowed to spend the money they took Liverpools best two players!

Its not going to happen I know, but it would make me laugh!

Your cryptic response means what, exactly?And it's all about the Newcastle Quayside these days, mi amigo.
As quickly as possible:

It's a "me" world. You just said as much. Loyalty and continuity ran businesses for ages. People learned the job and got promoted throught the ranks and carried on the business and it flourished. Now, everybody chases the personal dream and nobody stays in place. Businesses lose their credibility and when they go bust nobody considers the fact that the same businesses have kept them in work for years. The "me" factor is the root cause of the drastic recession we're now seeing.
That's the cryptic bit. :wink:

I don't see how it can make them a better side, he's the best player on the planet.

But, if they can strengthen a couple of areas (and for feck* sake, play Rooney up front) they'll still be more than good enough to beat Chelsea to the title.

<interlude>

will you please stop putting an "s" on the end of the perfectly good word "anyway" - it is not hip, big, cool, clever or down with the kidz - it is simply annoying.

</interlude>

ok - you can all carry on now... :wink:

Benzema, I reckon. Can play across the front three, is young enough to improve, and after a quieter season should "only" cost about £20m.

He is a fantastic footballer ... but if "team spirit" actually does mean anythingthen his loss may be outweighed by this nasty, sulky, tempremental little shite's character.

Bllx to him. I'll miss seeing his skill, but not him.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I dislike Real Madrid and Man U in equal measure so I'm neutral at which of these clubs Ronaldo plays for.

However, as Man U are a few minutes down the road, and IMO this will really detract from their team (he is irreplaceable), it is good news. They will still challenge next season, but it is wide open, and then in a couple of years Ferguson will retire, and then they will really have a challenge to maintain any kind of dominance. Then all these plastic supporters will think better of driving up the M6 every other week, profits will fall, debt will increase, and the club will be in serious trouble.

My word that paragraph felt good.

Real have now spent £136m in this TW and bought Huntelaar and Diarra for about £35m combined in January, and can't be generating huge football profits given they were knocked out of the CL in the last 16. So where do Real Madrid get their money from? Historically they are the team of the facist Spanish rulers, and I know they get help from the government eg. selling their training ground for a huge sum about 10 years ago, but are they still getting public money to invest in their team?

Anyway Forza Barca!
