Owen For Sale! Owen For Sale!

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Desperation tactic. I don't remember any other Premiership player ever needing to do a sales campaign brochure. I think everybody knows Owen can be great when injury free....but he isn't, he's injury prone and for the sort of money he wants he's a no-go area. Fact.

On a pay per play basis is the only way I'd even think of it. £70 grand a week for sitting in the physio room is a joke. Quinton Fortune was a decent footballer and look what happened there.

Actually this sort of thing happens a lot, agents send these brochures round regularly.

Love it. Its like a cut-and-paste job from an internet forum. The most scary part is that there are probably clubs outthere who will be taken in by it.

There are some brilliant bits in it.

"Michael Owen has played for three of the most famous teams in world football: Liverpool, Real Madrid and........Newcastle

Michael Owen Brand Values: 'Commited' 'Sincere' 'Devoted' 'Cool' 'Articulate', and my personal favourite, and one of my favourite things ever written, 'charismatic'."

:lmfao:

As for Owen himself, was a top class striker, and is still ten times better than anything we have as a goal scorer. I'd love to see him as the middle one of the three behind a striker, but I don't think we could afford that luxury. Couldn't play as an out an out target man, so would probably end up on a pay as you aply deal on the bench chucked on if we need a goal. Not sure he'd go for that.

But surely there isn't a Club Chairman on Earth that won't pick up on their wee ruse of including all of his goals and presenting them as the juicier figure of goals per start? If I've picked up on it then I'm bloody sure that finer minds than mine will. :conf:

It's not a new idea, but it is a mental one. As Martin Samuel pointed out in his column today, all it does is draw attention to why you wouldn't sign Micheal Owen.

Really, they'd have been better off just sending a postcard to teams with just "MICHEAL OWEN - ON A FREE - Y'GEDDIT?".

Splendid thank you, it was much-needed. Just need to decide where to go in September for a week away now. Hard life.

I'd have him on a free transfer and like others have said on a pay per play basis, including no pay when injured or dropped. But he will never agree to that so no point in considering him.
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED
