Aye but don't forget he's shit because he hates England and the England football team.CAPSLOCK wrote:Quite clearly in the top 3 now is Murray
Nadal has serious injury issues, Federer will get bored
The best British sportsman will win a slam this year
But it might be the US
Oh and cos he's not a posh nice person like Henman!
I'm planning to queue up overnight to try and get show court tickets for Wednesday. Has anyone done this before or have any tips?

Aye, when did people stop being able to make jokes? Yes he's a boring bastard, but feck me the boy can play. He's a winner, and as usual in this country, we can't have that.BWFC_Insane wrote:Aye but don't forget he's shit because he hates England and the England football team.CAPSLOCK wrote:Quite clearly in the top 3 now is Murray

I kinda like him. I'd much rather have his straight talking than Tim Henman's nicey nicey b*llocks. When asked about British tennis, tells it how it is. I like that.FD wrote:Come on though, he's clearly a c*nt.

I like him too. Much more than I could ever have liked Choker.
The roof could have been his saviour and his downfall at the same time tonight. He got his match done tonight, but so has everyone else in the men's single draw who played on the "minor" courts. That saves him getting up and warming up for an hour before playing what could have been another two hours tomorrow. Alternatively, he has a lie-in tomorrow, and gives him as much rest as the other seven fellas tomorrow. And, of course, if the weather was considerably more inclement, then he'dhave an unfair advantage. Then there's the fact the the natural ambience of shade that kicks in can drop the court temperature by 10-15 degrees....

Have you actually met Murray in order to form this opinion?Bruno wrote:What a dislikeable arsehole Murray is.

He also now has the advantage of having played under it, bit like us having played at Wembley 3 months before playing Reading there in '95. He did a superb impersonation of Henman tonight, quite took me back 5 or 6 years.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:I like him too. Much more than I could ever have liked Choker.

I like Murray too. He is focussed. He isn't a performing seal he's a tennis player. His personality simply reflects his desire to win! And lets face it, he was playing horrible tennis most of last night. His opponent was inspired. But Murray found a way to win through sheer desire and heart.KeeeeeeeBaaaaaaab wrote:I like him too. Thats why I'll always prefer him to Henman.
He won't win Wimbledon simply because Federer is too good here and he may well struggle after his 5 set marathon in the quarters or the semis!
But I don't get this dislike of him.
Neither do I, BWFCI. I like him because he's been willing to put the hard graft in to compete with the Nadals and Federers - his fitness now compared to 12 months ago is phenomenal, and I'd wager that his extra conditioning helped him through last night. Wawrinka is a very good player, just hovering outside the top ten, and having lost the first set quite comfortably, he didn't panic and was able to up his game when needed. That is (cliche alert) the sign of a champion. Though as CAPS says, I'd fancy his chances more at the US than here.

Indeed. The fact is he was playing horribly last night against someone playing at times unplayable tennis. And yet he won.Verbal wrote:Neither do I, BWFCI. He found a way. And the reason like you say he can do that is because of the work he's done on his fitness, game and mentality.

Despite Henman being a nice-guy type I never felt he'd win Wimbledon. He just didn't have a full golf bag (yeah, all right). Neither, unfortunately, did Rudetski (sp?) Murray, now he's worked on his stamina and strength, does give me the feeling he can at least make the final. He came back ,when under real pressure against a good player, despite looking really knackered. Five sets in that heat can't be too much fun for anybody.

At what point has he made this known?
Or are you just using the "tabloid" headlines as evidence?
Misquoted or anti-English?

Forgive me if you've heard this before, but before the last World Cup finals I interviewed Murray and Tim Henman together for the first time. Murray was late joining the conversation and dropped into his chair midway through a chat about the impending football World Cup.
Naturally, we immediately teased him about Scotland's absence from the competition. As Henman snorted with laughter, I asked Murray what he would be doing while we all watched the World Cup. Reading a good book, perhaps?
With the appropriate degree of sarcasm, Murray replied by saying he would be 'supporting whoever England were playing against'. So we mocked him some more and moved on. It appeared as a transcript in this paper, exactly as the conversation took place, and the entire exchange was obviously a joke.
Then another paper picked up the exchange a couple of days later, ran half-a-dozen paragraphs on a news page and from that point on the truth went flying out of the window along with any sense of perspective.
To be honest, he strikes me as a guy who is purely focused on doing his job and nothing else. If we're to consider him as a Grand Slam Contender (c) is that a bad thing? To be honest, I find his attitude quite refreshing.
