Fooking hell I would not like to be Hauritz now. That looked bloody painful.

Sounded it on Live text, not seen it yet though.

Good news for England like, some very tired seamers and a few part-timers for the rest of the innings

Your life really is full of disappointments
So you don't think the Aussies would be going hell for leather for a target like that then if they were batting?
Chase a target like that lose a couple early your in the brown stuff up to your neck!

If England posted 600 plus the Aussies would simply try and bat out time.

Clearly doing that they'd score runs as well, but sometimes its easier to win when the other side are still trying to win rather than just saving the game.

Pending a batting collapse the like which only England could do - this is amazing. Clearly something terrible happened to Marcus Trescothick overnight and his ghost has possessed Alistair Cook. Gutted for him he couldn't get to three figures.

Draw or better here and I'm a believer. We'll do 'em at Edgbaston and Headingley.

tbf to Cook he's come off the back of a very dissappointing match in Cardiff where he gifted his two wickets away. This, at least, showed he was back in some form.

Strauss in the nervous nineties now...

Personally not yet convinced by Bopara as a test class number 3!

He could do with stopping playing across the line, but he got a good delivery there. On the plus side, it's swinging.

Oh, and seen as we're getting ahead of ourselves talking about targets, 600 is plenty.

15 innings since the war in England have reached 600

I'd guuess you'd not need to take your socks off to count how many it is if we increase the bar to 650

A rare occurrence for sure. I remember when our opening batsman, John Edrich, made 310 not out against NZ and we still didn't reach 600. I seem to recall one test against Australia when we scored over 600 and they promptly replied with a similar score - not certain however - memory is a tricky thing.

If Manchester weather's anything to go by (it's pxxxing down) a draw is almost a cert. Be nice to get a test match here where all the days are played fully. 255 for 2 is no bad start though and Strauss gets a ton.

Englands session...just!

Despite the two wickets we have kept scoring at a more than acceptable rate.

So we've mullered them in session one, and can claim a narrow victory in 2!

I imagine KP as earphones in whilst batting, just playing RATM on a loop.

Warne decribed Pietersen as a "walking ego". Not bad Shane, but then you'd know a bit about that.

Well, KP's finished his walk back to the pavillion now. Out for 32. Enter King Nurdle IV.

He's certainly doing a fine job in the commentary box. Better than bloody Lloyd or Boycott embarrassing themselves.
