What are you watching tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

some person at the Comic Con. in San Diego filmed the trailer for Tennant's last two appearances as Doctor Who. It's a bit crappy quality but nonetheless shows which characters will be back...

Just set a series link for the 11th season of King of the Hill starting on E4 tomorrow night, I tell you what...

Mahalo!!
Is it the one Johnny Depp does? Heard great things about it. That's my tomorrow evening planned.
yeah Depp narrates. it is a great tribute!

he was fookin crackers!

Always thought his funeral business was a bit egocentric, but then again if he made such an impact on peoples lives that they wantes to arrange something like that then its fair enough, i spose.
Crackers is one way of putting it. Meh yeah of course it was egocentric, but he was a famous author who included amongst his court the likes of Johnny Depp, he was hardly gonna go with a whimper. Literally with a bang (by which I mean the cannon not the gun).

Just watched the first half, will report back after I finish it tomorrow, but loving it so far.

Speaking of Depp, saw Public Enemies tonight - verrrrrry disappointing.

However the cinema seats were fantastic, armchair stylee with a lovely table inbetween the seats perfect for resting your drink.

Film 2/10
Cinema 9/10

Get yourself a copy of "Kingdom of Fear" - easily the best book about Bush-era America I've ever read....

seemed to have hijacked this thread a tad - read Hells Angels, Rum Diary, both F&L's, Kingdom of fear, Curse of Lono plus loads of his articles & short stories - also read The Jokes Over by Ralph Steadman - thats quality!

There is a movie in production of the Rum Diary, Johnny Depp's project!

Desperate Romantics for the third episode. It continues as it started. Good writing and acting. Not exactly taxing intellectually or emotionally. Real summer syrup really. Must be in a syrupy mood, then, to manage three hours of it.

BBC 4 on form at the moment. tonight's drama - the second in the Under the Skin series of historicasl medical drama was excellent. Probably the most engaging of anything on atm. The Spanish flu epidemic after WW1 - that killed three times as many as the war itself - as experienced in Manchester, where a heroic bunch of doctors, nurses, politicians and people keep it to over 3000 (!) deaths. What's more this wasn't freeview on the cheap. some real location work, excellent actors, and i really enjoyed the archive footage.

Nice also to see local politicians, and locasl government officials, the subject of so much spleen and mockery currently, as committed leaders of their community, trying to deal with a crisis of terrible implications, and doing it honestly. Anyone else catch it/ if not - worth an hour on iplayer in my opinion...

Zombie Strippers.

Quality. Starring Robert Englund and Jenna Jamieson.

A damning parody of hypocrisy and the way the "sex industry" is viewed by workers and consumers - men oggling women who they consider as nothing more than lumps of flesh, women viewing said men as nothing more than easy money - or "food" - and both being screwed over by the people in charge.

All with superb head-ripping violence. And some marvellous lines, such as:
"We stopped that thing - what was it called?"
"The Apocalypse"
"That was it. Lieutenant Ryker here killed Satan himself with a sharp stick. Good work, soldier!"

Well, I liked it.

Noooooo, it's what tabloids aim to be, populist subject, engaging yet simple tone, and interesting enough and amusing enough that you read it and take in a serious point. Brooker not at his best, but doing what he does best.

having just watched the whole series 1 of The Wire with the missus on DVD (surely the best way to watch any long-running drama series??) - we shall be starting on series 2. We missed the entire thing when everyone else watched it!
