They have Djourou as well. I'm surprised Wenger is saying he is happy with what he has - they look weak in attack now - and not great in defence. Plus, it is the reputation of them as a selling club that will develop if he doesn't sign top class replacements.H. Pedersen wrote:Maybe, but selling him still puts a lot of pressure on Vermaelen to perform immediately and a lot of pressure on Gallas to not have a nervous breakdown. Behind them you've got Silvestre and Senderos . . . certainly not players you'll win the league with. Might not even be good enough for top 4.seanworth wrote:I think Toure, at least the past couple seasons is highly over rated.
If they sign Huntelaar and Hangeland however, they will have improved their team in this TW, and made some money.
Pretty sure he left last summer.H. Arshavin, Van Persie, Fabregas, Rosicky... I don't think you can say Arsenal looks weak going forward. Heck I like their front line much more than City's and would have half those players at Barça in a heartbeat.
But they need less shaky defenders and a Viera-like player to add a more physical presence and determination to the midfield. Gilberto was decent doing that and I think people in general underrated him. I also think this lack of physical midfield exposes their so-so back four too, they shipped the most goals in the top 4 by a noticeable amount.

and Eduardo..... but.... when were any two out of those five fit at the same time?Village_Idiot2 wrote:Arshavin, Van Persie, Fabregas, Rosicky... (not to mention Vela and Walcott, and Bendtner...)

You listed 3 midfielders and an injury prone (albeit extremely talented) striker. Putting the ball in the back of the net could be a problem. I don't rate Adebayor, but at least he guaranteed 15 goals per season. I can really see Wenger going to the much maligned (by himself) 4-3-3, with a smasher of a DM to shore things up for Fabregas and Rosicky to pull the strings in the centre, with Arshavin, Van Persie and Walcott as the regular front three.Village_Idiot2 wrote:Arshavin, Van Persie, Fabregas, Rosicky... If true, could have interesting repercussions for us . . . might dash Sporting's hopes of selling Veloso to City . . .boltonboris wrote:Really? 10 Million?Bruno wrote:City signed Fabian Delph for 10m and loaned him back to Leeds.
To be announced later, supposedly.
That's very much a case of we don't need him, but we don't want anybody else to have him
Sure I read somewhere today that Spurs are after him.H. Looks very much like we will have him just so no-one else can have him. Oh the fun times ahead. Looks like Chelsea all over again.

Should be a cracker, neither team can defend but have bags of ability in attack.
my gooner-supporting friend says the first half was a bag of tedious dog-wank (OK - she didn't use that language - but it's what she meant!)
