Sir Bobby Robson

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

And now we can wait for the same tabloids that once tore him to pieces to eulogise him.

One of our very best managers (and players, lest we forget).

Not the most surprising of news, but still some of the saddest. RIP.

Sad day for football.

I can still remember going out on pengies to the Germans in 1990 like it was yesterday...

One of those rare occasions when you hear a piece of news and feel genuine sadness. Bobby Robson was a man who epitomised all that was good in our game.

RIP.

One wonders how history would be different if Newcastle had stuck with him a little longer.

A great gentleman, he got a lot of unfair stick when he was at Barcelona but nowadays he's remembered fondly :(

Sir Bobby is signing copies of his autobigraphy in a bookstore in Newcastle. A kid patiently queues for ages to get his book signed. When he gets to the front of the queue Sir Bobby asks him his name and starts to sign his copy....

Kid: "So, have you signed a lot of books today Mr Robson."

Sir Bobby: "Hundreds son, absolutely hundreds."

Outside the shop the kid opens his copy of the book to read what the legend has written............"To Jimmy, Best Wishes From Bobby Hundreds."
My favourite Robson story from his Newcastle days:

An interviewer was talking to Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi. “Do you have a nickname?” He asked.

“No, not really.” Ameobi replied.

“What does Bobby Robson call you?”

“Carl Cort”
Was right all along

My favorite Robson story at Barça was when he was interviewed at a restaurant. The reporter was talking about how his system was criticised as "too conservative" and, in order to deny this, he just grabbed all the wine glasses on the table and explained how his system was able to generate link-up play and superiority on the last third of the pitch, moving the glasses all over the table. Awesome.
