Rumours have it that Newcastle have turned down a 10m offer for Bassong from the Spurs. Has the world gone crazy or what? He looked quite o.k. at times last season and has some good potential but for 10m they should have driven him to London.

I don't know who is worse there, Spurs for offering 10m, or Newcastle for saying no. Crazy.
Was right all along

Now the Spurs are rumoured to be offering 10m for Samba from Blackburn. No wonder there have been few significant signings for most teams outside of Real and City. Expect the prices to plunge over the next 15 days or so.

I believe the Alonso deal is now complete at what is assumed to be b30. I know a lot of people really rate him, but I don't think he is worth 15m never mind 30m. No wonder we are having a hard time getting the creative players we want.

Indeed, to say the market is inflated is something of an understatement. They'd have gladly taken half that a year ago.

How in the Hell are we supposed to compete with that? I guess the good news is that the top teams in England are getting weaker, but eventually that just means they'll buy our players like Cahill.

Since when have we been competing with Madrid? I said it when Abrahmovich came in at Chelsea, and everbody predicted the death of football, how we wouldn't be able to compete. So unable to compete, that we had our best period for 50 odd years? Let the big clubs keep upping the ante, its not, nor ever was our market place.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Now I wish they also showed these videos when clubs are linked to players instead of the ones that make them look like Pelé :D

It is more of the trickle down effect. Now there are several giants upping the ante. I don't think we can compete in England if we can't afford to buy, and our best players are purchased from us. There is a point where we can be priced out of the premier league.

Scott Sinclair for Wigan on loan, and the lanky young forward from Chelsea gone to Blackburn...aren't these the kind of deals we should be looking at?

No because we currently have better players to play on the wing or up top. Di Santo (as a sub, maybe...) But Blackburn have offloaded their only fit strikers and Wigan have flogged their best player (a winger.. ie; Sinclair) to the rags

Hull have agreed a fee with Newcastle for Beye - a good buy for them if they can pull if off - its highly doubtful if they can match his wages that he had at Newcastle and Villa are interested...

Some comments from the online comedy store that is Newcastle online:
Hull. Ffs.

It's like Stephen Hawking pinching your girlfriend.

Humiliating.
The mighty R. Taylor at RB... oh god. Who's WBA left winger? If its someone with two legs and head, we're f***ed.

Apparently Pompey has signed Anti Niemi, who has come out of retirement to play for them.

So they now have a 39 year old goalkeeper and a 37 year old goalkeeper.

Won't be able to complain about inexperience.
