But then again, I just can't see where Real have been getting their money from.
Well, if they sell their youth players for this kind of money, I can certainly see how they plan to recoup it!

Two questions:

Is this Benfica's actual website?

Stephen Ireland, €20m?

Guy's pretty good, classic strong goalscorer that can play with the back to the goal and will finish stuff that other strikers would just let go. but I think 15m is a tad much given that you never know how his form is going to translate in another team or league (he is pretty strong so I think he should do well in the prem, not particularly pacey though). His goalscoring record for Almería is impressive, but he also took the pens there.

Now now, we don't want to find ourselves in the cliché thread do we?

What's that? Oh, it's just the sinking feeling I've just got for our forthcoming League Cup tie.

hahaha, you've gotta love the cheek of it!! He'll be off to Spurs then. Interesting to see how he fairs in the Premier League. I can only think of a couple of players that have made a real success of a switch from the SPL to the Premier League.

Any suggestions?

Di Canio is the obvious one. Carbone to a lesser extent, even if his time at Bradford was shrouded in his wages. Could you argue the case for Stubbs? I expect Carlos Cuellar to make a success out of his season at Villa this year.

Sad that I can't think of one single Scottish player, or one that has come from a club outside the Old Firm.

Would you count Larsson? Didn't come directly from Scotland, but certainly had a fair few successful years there before his move to England. And did OK.

And Steve McAnespie, of course.

Larsson was immense for us. He's a hero in Barcelona.

Hutton's a good right-back, he's just one of those players who can't pick up a short-term injury. They're always measured in seasons.
Bit like Joey O.

I'm always saying we should go in for Brown. Real box-to-box midfielder, tough-tackler, makes Gavin McCann look like Teddy Ruxpin.
