There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Congrats to Burnley. What a great win for them in the first home game in the PL.

They must be ecstatic....

Oh to be excited before, during and after a football match. I can't remember what it feels like to be full of optimism

Well done, Burnley... managed first time what took us 9 prem seasons... Fantastic...

Wouldn't be human if I didn't confess a little jealousy...

Not really, we did it twice in our first two season, and at their place, which is harder.

That aside, well done to them. I hope it doesn't last, nothing personal, just need another to go with Pompey and Hull. Could be Wolves or Brum as well.

Wrong, though wish you were right...

Our first two seasons in the Prem?

Check out the results at OT!

And, indeed, at home... I think the aggregate on our first season was 0-9... certainly the home game was 0-6... Our equal worst ever home defeat (and i was at both!)...

I was very precise - took us 9 prem seasons to get a home victory against them... Though those 2 victories at OT in our 3rd and 4th Prem seasons were fantastic... Still celebrating now...

And will never happen again while we have a stadium half ull of customers, rather than full of fans.

And yes, I wish I could do something about it, but 1) my own career stops that a tad, and 2) I've seen the effect one voice has over thousands of diometrically opposed ones....

That's like saying oh well Burnley lost to them when they played them 33 years ago. We did it in our first two seasons as a newly promoted, and then newly survivng club. Still, fair play to 'em.

Black Sunday was slightly more recently than that, though - certainly after Rupert Murdoch invented football (before that there was just the void).

It does sometimes seem difficult to recall those yo-yo years with Todd (and McFarland). But Black Sunday still causes nightmares. It was on telly - ITV, I think. I videoed it, and went to the match. Then got back and recorded over it straight away, without watching it. I don't think I was alone in that.

It was on Sky, and it was awful. We all had hope in our hearts that Sasa was to be the shining light, then was promptly battered by Steve Bruce for 90 minutes. Truly men against boys, which was weird considering Man United's average age was 13, even factoring in Schmeichel, Bruce, Pallister and Cantona.

A burnley fan I was chatting to at the Pacquaio Hatton fight also had on but, he was in the gods with myself, so it'd never get on TV.

No it's not - our first season in the Prem the Filth hammered us 6-0 at home. We went down.

This is Burnley's first season in the Prem. they beat them. Fantastic.

Will have to agree to disagree. Sky inventing football is pretty irrelevant to me, and the team that lost 6-0 in 97 (98?) bore no relation to the team that came back up. It was that teams first season in the top league, and they went to Old Trafford and won, then repeated the feat. Not to try to take anything away from Burnley, just to point out we've had our own fair share of similar moments, before and after 2001.
