Where are these 'mind games', Tango? Looks like perfectly reasoned opinion to me. :conf:

Don't know about mind games, think he's just talking shite as per.

Bopara is shot mentally, Trott is the next man in line. Seems pretty straightforward.

Ahead of the deciding Ashes Test, Australia captain Ricky Ponting has said that England's decision to select Jonathan Trott for The Oval showdown smacks of "desperation"

Hey, I'm a great admirer of Ponting, but I would have thought that was, but, ah well never mind.

Agreed, didn't need to be said, but he's fanning the flames

Ah, you were expecting Ponting to get the cucumber sandwiches and fondant fancies out, were you? Honestly, Tango, if comments like that, even if they were made about you personally fecked with your mind then I would definitely be dragging you down to Thicker Skins R Us.
There's also the reverse psychology to bring in here: Ponting's sounding off show's how nervous he is.

Man up, Tiger feet.

As is Ponting, Tango. Only, there are some that will rise above it, and some that need more resolve. As proved here, evidently.

Ah, TANGO, on this occasion I have to disagree with you (even as a neutral observer). For all I know the question put to Mr.Ponting could well have been, "Is the inclusion of a debutant into this final and most important test a good thing or an act of desperation?" Certainly he could have replied with some bland comment such as, "It's not up to me to comment on the opposition's selections". I note that he also mentioned that he thought that the newcomer is a good cricketer and that his team has been doing research on the man (and, no doubt, any other prospect). What team captain wouldn't? After all, the Englanders sussed out Hughes' main weakness and capitalised upon it.

I do hope that this deciding test produces good cricket (players, umpires and crowd) and that the result shows the better team. By that I don't mean a Headingly thumping or a game ruined by rain interruptions, just a decent stoush.

Eh? That's confused me.

All I know about tiger feet is that they are considered, by some, to be neat.

Pitch is bouncy and has pace I sppose is why.

However, if this England side bowls Australia out twice on this wicket I'll be bloody amazed!

Really? Simply retaining the ashes with a draw would be exciting to them?

I imagine they'd take it now if you offered it to them!

Don't think they'll need the weather though!

Not the best after being 108-1. Let the advantage slip here. Need a proper innings out of someone.

Was just about to write about the decent recovery job Prior and Trott were doing, but then Prior pushes at a slower ball and is caught at point. Ah well. Here comes Fred, about whom Athers wrote a very good article in todays Times offering a more realistic view about the path and success of his career.
