Other than that, just take your time, download the free demos to try games out before buying.

I've been tempted by that for the Wii, but I fear it won't get the attention it deserves.jaffka wrote:ashes cricket 2009, I think that may be up your streetWorthy4England wrote:As a complete NOOB on XBOX Live - is there anything in particular I should be heading to? Yay - I downloaded it for the PC last year just to play it again - might give it a go on the XBOX...General Mannerheim wrote:monkey island!Worthy4England wrote:As a complete NOOB on XBOX Live - is there anything in particular I should be heading to? Still 100.00 Checked again. The tech mags and websites even are saying that it could really hurt against the cheaper PS3 slim.FD wrote:http://www.netgear.com/Products/Powerli ... XE102.aspx
Cheaper than $100, perhaps a solution?
That said, feck knows where you are paying $100 for that wireless unit, you can get it for £30 in the UK now!

Spent the early hours last night absolutely wasted watching my mate play it. I have never said the word 'cool' so many times in so short a space of time. It looks AMAZING.
Also p*ssed off my pro evo died two days after buying it. 'Disk unplayable', this a common thing, or just bad luck?

Does this work with any game?FD wrote:Bad luck.
However, rent it or borrow it, install to HDD and you'll be able to use your disc still to boot it.
My Street Fighter buggered up when I moved my console and the disk got scratched (didnt know it was common until I googled it after I did it!). I can play the normal game fine, I just can't play multiplayer.

Yep any game. Install to your HD and you only need the disc to start playing. I guess it just needs a scan of the DVD barcode or whatever to prove you own a copy of the original and you're away.keveh wrote:Does this work with any game?FD wrote:Bad luck.

I'd have a go at installing to the HD anyway even with your scratched disc; it installed ok for me with my lad's knackered FIFA 09 disc.
Businesswoman of the year.
Put the disc in, instead of pressing A to start the game, there should be a Y option to do other stuff. If not, go right to "games library" and there should be the option there. Sorry, not at 360 at the mo.
I assume you've tried the toothpaste method of fixing the disc?
Oh and you definitely should try installing from your disc before renting/borrowing, it's likely to work!

Can I install even if it says disk unplayable? Since it ain't even recognising it?
It's going back, only bought it last week. Just wondered for t'future. Not paying 20 notes for two days. Disk isn't visibly scratched or battered, and all other games work fine.

If the disc isn't visibly damaged then if might be a laser issue. Fixable for about £20 if you know the right guy (I can pm you with a guy who'd do it) but would cost about £10-12 to send on top.
You could try installing it but it's unlikely to work if the console can't recognise the disc. Have you tried other discs, if they are the same then its definitely the laser. Does it boot a video saying "to play this game put it in an xbox 360 console" or does it just do nothing?
Toothpaste method usually works a charm but only on scratched to f*ck discs. Boil a kettle and pour it into a bowl, smear the disc in toothpaste, then soak the smeared disc in the boiing water for bout 15 minutes, then wipe it clean. It works as an abrasive so it brings all the crap to the surface.
Won't make a difference if your laser is buggered mind you.

Nah it's only Pro Evo so I'm guessing it must be something wrong with the disk, it's just not visible. Will exchange it and if it still doesn't work could be something more majorFD wrote:If the disc isn't visibly damaged then if might be a laser issue. if its knack'd and the console is not scratching them then...
theres places ont internet with polishing/grinding machines.
forget the name of the machines- summat pun-ny like 'discgotech'
GAME (the computer games place) might have one in there. thats what their site sez anyroad.
carnt see it being that if it isnt visable tho. the label mustve been glued on wrong or somethin'.
use a baby wipe (or similar) to wipe it and/or run it under the cold tap (hot water warps the shit out of plastic / might melt the see-thru glue thatt holds the halves together / somethin' else ) dry with a spectacles cleaning rag. youve probably tried this already.
