With boxing games I've had a take it or leave it attitude and haven't really liked one since Barry McGuigan on the C64, but this one is sodding brilliant. Consider me converted. At the very least, a must-rent.

I'm not really a graphics hound (otherwise I'd prefer Fifa) but the animations in FN4 are superb. Right down to the subtle way the boxers disguise their punches or if they're against the ropes they get awkward shots away cos there's no room to swing. Then there's the blocking and dodging physics which too are incredible.

Not bought it yet. Will pick it up today!

I probably will, but it's a boring and lazy rehash of last year's disappointing effort.General Mannerheim wrote:yeah, very disspointed with the fifa demo! was excited before, not sure ill buy it now?
Plus, after all the money they spend on licenses (which impresses some charlies I suppose), you'd have thought they would at least be able to make the players look like the intended ones.

Works for me. It's defence grid. Set up defence towers to stop an enemy pinching some purple things. Very addicted, lots of maps, lots of enemiesCrazyHorse wrote:hisroyalgingerness wrote:http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-GB/games ... 2584108cb/

Having been a PES fan for a while and not owned (but have played) a FIFA game for a good few years I decided to buy the new FIFA game.
Was fairly impressed, this is getting as close to a "football sim" as you can get. Games play realistically the tactics actually affect the way they play out.
It looks nice has as ever lots of options and certainly is a decent effort at reflecting something vaguely plausible.
One of the early games I played was as Bolton of course against Arsenal. Now I'm no gaming expert would probably get mullered by everyone on here at FIFA or PES but I don't consider myself useless. Arsenal scored after 5 minutes through a Denilson header (bit of a fluke actually), but ten minutes later we equalised through big Kevin Davies.
Then we held them at bay for the rest of the first half.
Second half we got more tired and more tired and basically were camped in our own half struggling to get past the halfway line. Defended like demons to a man and kicked balls off the line, threw bodies in front of shots, Jussi made 2 great saves and Van Persie hit the bar.
5 minutes real time of thumb twisting finger aching defending and we escaped with a draw whilst barely escaping past the halfway line more than three or four times in the whole second half. Muamba was brilliant until a chance to break came then he controlled the ball as if it were a timed explosive and Davies did a manful job upfront but struggled with no support.
Realistic yes. Engrossing yes. Challenging yes.
But fun??????????????
