Then we'll have to agree to disagree on this one then, Squire. For me, Allardyce was always looking to set up the new Bolton, but with better footballers. Viduka as his Davies, Barton as his Nolan etc. Thus forming a halfway house between the football that the Geordies expect as their right, and the only style of play that Allardyce is comfortable with.FD wrote:Nope, I think he would have had Nolan if he thought for a second he was available. Back then I'd imagine any enquiries were met with "F*ck off" but obviously in January it was more a case of US wanting rid.
May the bridges I burn light your way

Ouch.
http://www.tribalfootball.com/newcastle ... ove-253737Newcastle United need to cover a percentage of Kevin Nolan's £60,000-a-week wages to help his move to Hull City.
The People says Hull chief Phil Brown wants his former Bolton Wanderers star to provide some fire and power into his midfield next season.
The Tigers would take him on a season-long loan with a view to a full-time switch, but they are struggling to match Nolan's contract on Tyneside - and do not want to upset their own dressing room by breaking the bank.
Now the Geordies, who are under pressure to cut their payroll, will have to give Nolan money to go or subsidise a loan. Nolan only joined from Bolton for £4million in January.

Well we have to consider the source, though it is consistent with the Toon's financial planning.H. Pedersen wrote:Ouch.

Can't ever remember Kevin scoring a hattrick before. Good to see him enjoying his football again and obviously getting more time and space in the Championship than he used to get in the Premiership. Looks a bit slimmer and fitter as well, the north east air seems to be suiting him.
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

On a slightly different note, just how poor can the Championship be this year if the three relegated sides are the top three in the division? Especially given the mess that Newcastle are in off the pitch.
I read this Championship article a couple of weeks back tipping all 3 to go up and at this rate that may just happen.

Because he may now be refinding that precious skill... I hope so for his sake because he was outstanding when on form (I agree there were two disappointing seasons)...
I'm already on record (Brum thread) as hoping cohen might metamorphose into that player - tho suspect he'll never have that loyalty or 'feel' for the club...
