There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Interesting stat here:
Benitez, whose Liverpool squad has the highest percentage of expatriate players in Europe - with 90%
You may want to change your avatar before getting into this particular arguement HP !!

anyway ... 0-2 tonight, he'll be off looking for Spanish kids whose parents once visited the UK I expect.

He is a prick though, isn't he ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

It's really not that bad of a loss. Fiorentina are a good team. Bit of an Anglo-centric attitude here.

Not saying he is, but £24m is a joke. That was the point.

Money is no object to City. They could (and would) have shelled out £50 million for Vidic, Terry, Nesta, or any other world-class defender, but those players wouldn't have accepted. So they got the best defender they could, for whatever Everton were willing to sell him for.

Now, Johnson for £17 million was a different and entirely more retarded matter. Liverpool do not have that kind of money so Lord knows why they approved that.

Fine but I felt Lescott was the 3rd best defender on Everton last season. The previous season he was their best defender.

They might do soon if that Prince Fazakh Ali bin Dippah invests in the club.

Well over the summer they actually spent very little overall, given the sales of Alonso and Arbeloa - in fact they may even have made a profit so that's why.

If we sold someone for £30million I'm sure we'd be allowed to sign someone else for £17million.

On another note, Chelsea are looking pretty good for the title at the minute, with Utd dropping points as well, they're now comfortable favourites according to this Premier League betting article.

Still a long way to go though and everyone seems to be dropping points all over the shop - so much so that I wouldn't be too surprised if we managed a point or 3 against utd.

He also spent around £20 million on Aquliani, who won't be fit until mid-October. By which point they'll probably be out of the title race, as usual.
