Decent guys you WOULD give the time of day

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Not keen on players avoiding celebrating a goal.

Indeed.

And neither am I keen to see fans applauding opposition goals.

I think Dunne was confused when he saw the ball hit the back of the net, only for his team mates to celebrate rather than hold their head in their hands

How would you feel if Anelka knocked us out of the Carling Cup and celebrated like Adebayor?

Does it really need pointing out the difference between acting like Adebayor, and practically apologising for scoring.

He did celebrate with that butterfly thing, when he scored against us last season, and no-one cared. Why should they? You scored, be happy.

Just another example of how fickle football fans are. One day they're saying players today have no loyalty, the next they're slating a guy for showing respect to his long-time former club. Go figure.

No it doesn't.

You may not have noticed, but there's a difference between fans expecting (misguidedly, naively) a degree of loyalty to players currently playing for them, and the expectations they have of players who no longer play for the club. They have a new employer. New loyalties.

Deal with it.

Personally I wouldn't give a shit about him, he can celebrate how he likes. Didn't bother me when he celebrated after scoring against us last year. I care more about what our lads do than the oppo

Good to see if you ask me. I would say just do what you always do. But he has no set celebration so he did the right thing. Do the bit extra if you're pissed at the old club or fans. I said it earlier in the thread about Davies. He kissed the badge at Southampton. I absolutely loved that moment for him.

I might be in a minority here but I think Ian Wright is alright.

Always quite enjoyed watching him do England games on the BBC, his enthusiasm was always a bit of a laugh, if slightly misguided.

I missed his tv programme 'Football behind bars' but apparently it was quite good - there's an article about it here.

I celebrate goals scored by my team as if I'd scored them myself. Until they're against my former clubs, as I respect them for giving me the chance to do what I love. It feels wrong to celebrate upsetting people I still have respect for.

We had a player score tonight against their previous club, and he merely jogged past their fans and held his hand out as a gesture of respect. He got handshakes from them, and they were fans who are normally rabid against anyone other than their own.

I'd be slightly miffed at first. Then I'd remember he's paid to play for Chelsea, not Bolton. I wouldn't give a toss however he celebrated. I found Adebayor's celebration hilarious. I'd find it funny if someone did it against Bolton, admittedly after the initial annoyance.

If you score, you score. End of. I don't see the need to avoid celebration because they paid you £50k (or whatever) a week before your current £110k (or whatever) a week.

In a much different (and maybe irrelevant) example: I worked for Pizza Hut. If I ordered a pizza from Domino's that was better than what I made at Pizza Hut, I'd appreciate the effort and enjoyability. I certainly wouldn't boo and abuse the chap that delivered it.

Did you applaud Michael Ricketts' celebration when he scored a last-day goal that threatened to help relegate us?

Met Lee Chong Yung last week before the game, not sure he understood anything of my little good luck message, and the man is thinner than a rake

I dunno. If McLeish hadn't buggered off to Birmingham we might have beaten Norway, or at least Macedonia.
