A friend of mine lent me Series 1 of The Shield some time ago. I tried watching the first two episodes but frankly it didn't interest me that much.

Last week, with F*ck all on the telly (again) the missus and I had another crack at it. What a show. Yes, the bad language is almost incessant, yes the street slang is (sometimes) indecipherable, but once you get into the characters it bites down hard and doesn't let go.

Funniest scene so far is when McNulty and Bulk are investigating the cold case shooting of a young women. They enter the crime scene and go about their measurements pertaining to the photographs taken at the time. All the way through the only phrase they say is ''Oh, feck''

Doesn't sound funny? I suggest you should (mos' def') watch the episode.

Up there. I thought the most recent one (4) was nothing special, but 5 is back to the Seinfeld story, so I'm looking forward to that.

I had no idea Stringer was portrayed by a Brit...

Yep, Hackney boy Idris Elba, to go along with Yorkshire boy Dominic West, aka Jimmy McNulty. Those two are brilliant in it. Says a lot when you don't realise an actor isn't from the country he is pretending to be until you are told/look it up.

Have you ever seen the interview Ricky Gervais does With Larry David!? Pure tv gold! I have a DL of it, not sure how I can share it though?

favourite CYE moment: when he is stuck on the chairlift with the Jewish doctors orthodox daughter, and he finally admits defeat in trying to adhere her to him… “what are you, fukkin nuts!?” and she jumps off!!! Hahahahaha…

Restaraunt Chef: [Larry hires a chef who has Tourette's Syndrome] feck* shitface cocksucker asshole son of a bitch!
[the restaurant suddenly turns silent]
Larry David: [Remembering seeing some high school students support a kid with cancer] Maybe one day I'll get a chance to do something good for somebody like that.
Larry David: [Aloud] Scum-sucking motherfucking whore!
Jeff Greene: Cock! Cock! Jism! Grandma! Cock!
Michael York: Bum! feck, turd, fart... c*nt, piss, shit, bugger and balls!
Restaurant Manager: Dammit... hell... crap... ssssssshit!
Cheryl: Ya goddamn motherfuckin' bitch!
Susie Greene: [Thinking Cheryl is yelling at her] feck you, you car wash c*nt! I HAD A DENTAL APPOINTMENT!
Cheryl's Dad: Fellatio, cunnilingus, french kissing! Rimjob.
Richard Lewis: Pussy pig feck*!
Jeff Greene's Dad: Boy cock, girl cock, E-I-E-I-O!
