nonsense - they're great - it gives you the chance only to scan every other item and pay half price....Puskas wrote:...self-checkout tills.
Why on earth do the retail outfit expect me to do the job (unpaid) of one of their checkout staff?
They want me to put my goods though the till for them, they can pay me for it.
And my daily rates are a f*ck sight higher than they'd normally pay for that position.
[EDIT]
And what does f*ck sight mean, anyway? It's obviously a strengthening of "damn sight", but what does that mean?
I presume it's sight, rather than site - but neither make any sense....

Those things are more hassle than they are worth. It lets you scan about 2 things before saying 'assistance required' meaning a member of staff always has to be supervising the self check out - so it doesn't save on labour costs. Then there's the constant arguments I have with them about 'putting the item in the bagging area'. It's there you fecking stupid machine!

Last week we got 30 cans of Carlsberg for 16quid, and these are proper man sized beverages, not of this bottles pussying.General Mannerheim wrote:talking of Tesco, 18 bottles of stella/bud/kronenburg for a tenner, or two boxes for 14 quid!!! just bought 6 packs of stella - 38.8p a bottle!!!... good times, err, made me very angryLord Kangana wrote:Aye, many a late night Tesco has echoed to the sound of "its in my f*cking hands you stupid machine".
And yes, self service is gash, for pretty much the reason LK states, ITS IN MY FECKING HAND!!! Put it in the bagging area. It's a bag of fecking crisps, how can you even tell its in there?!

the silver 'platform' is a set of scales. the cameras on 'em might have *item* recognition.Prufrock wrote: And yes, self service is gash, for pretty much the reason LK states, ITS IN MY FECKING HAND!!! Put it in the bagging area. It's a bag of fecking crisps, how can you even tell its in there?!
i used to think it was the arms on the plastic bag 'holder' that does it.
