I won't be taking a holiday over christenmasstideholidayvacation Worthy, as I'll be like one of the lenders in the temple. Out of interest, which bit is worse, that folk make me work on their religious holiday, or that I work on it.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

There is the californian option... The website indicates that all these are performed with the aid of angels, spirit-guides and prayer. i thought the seven-knob candles sounded fun...
WHAT WE DO:
We begin the actual ritual after myself, MariaSuzonne, and others cleanse my home and ourselves with herbs, soaps, incense and healings. Then we meditate, pray & chant mantras together; calling on the saints, masters, your angels and your spirit guides to assist us in your ritual being a success.
Several hours before we begin each person's Winter Solstice ritual we light your St. John (John the Baptist) candle, the first knob of the white 7 knob candle and burn the herbs. Approximately 10 hours later we light the 2 image candles (male or female; determined by your gender), the 1st knob of your light blue 7 knob candle, and your gold pyramid candle. The next day we light your St. Peter the Apostle. Then every day after we light another knob on the 7 knob candles and we spend time doing prayers, and chanting mantras over each person's ritual. We do this as long as any candle is still burning.
HOW THE CANDLES BURN:
The religious candles burn between 7 and 8 days. The pyramid candle takes about 6 to 7 days; the 7 knob candles are burnt at a rate of 1 knob each day, the image candles take about 10 to 12 hours to complete.
WHAT YOU DO:
We ask you to bring Yule logs, Mistletoe, Holly, Ivy, Evergreens, Oak (acorns are acceptable) and wheat (not in flour form. Seeds, chaff, and/or stem/axis are needed) into your home for at least the duration of the ritual. To learn more about these items; click HERE
If you can not burn a Yule log in your home then please do not worry. Many live in apts., condos or houses that don't have a fireplace, but we have a way around that. MariaSuzonne will give you more info on that.
Yep, whatever you do, don't burn down the condo with the yule log...

So, to summarise:
Those who celebate Christmas as the birth of Christ are Christians = religious
Those who celebrate Winter Solstice are Pagans = Religious
Those who just take the paid holiday, food, booze, presents etc = gatecrashers.
Those who ignore it all and work = Atheists.
Sounds about right to me.

The expletives presumably meant in an ironic way?Prufrock wrote:Who's making a point? Jesus wept. The whole point of the bloody thing is people shouldn't use kids to make a point. Trust me, if the 'Atheist brigade who want to bully the nice religious folk who keep them all to themselves' they'd have a lot more material than some cute kids woth a sign saying don't label me. Christ. WHy does everyone feel like they are constantly being persecuted, religious and not. I've seen PLENTY church ads, I've seen plenty Islam ads, and plenty Judaism ads, I've seen Atheism ads too. It's a free multicultural society. The whole point of this isn't make your kids atheist as you seem to have plucked form somewhere. Seeing as you seem to think it is, I'm interested in what way, apart from Bish labelling it so at the start, you find this a pro atheism advert?TANGODANCER wrote:Gee, BWFCI, we've gone a fair way to doing just that already. First thing every December was the Nativity scene lit up on the Town Hall Square. Where is it now? No religious themes (even though Christmas is a religious festival) on stamps etc. Like I said, this isn't a religious debate for me, it's just not necessary to use kids to promote views they don't have. And that's exactly what this bus advert is about. When did you last see a Christian ad anywhere outside Church grounds (or some guy on a soapbox who everybody ignores anyway? Jehovas Witnesses knocking on doors every two months? Who takes any notice anyway. At least they don't use three year old kids to promote themselves and they're never aggressive. I don't really care what views anyone else holds, they're entitled to them, but at least let them be their own and formed as adults.BWFC_Insane wrote: On that basis we should ban every nativity play, children from singing hymns or any songs of a religious connotation, children from saying prayers etc.
In fact I'm in favour of that TD. I assume you are too!
Merry Christmas.

Two pages of posts about something that %90 of us dont Fecking care about.
Yes its a bit of a boo boo, but, feckin hell, it dont matter.
I dont believe in God etc, so I dont give a t0ss whos kids are in the photo.
Please discuss something of interest.
here's the thing - you DON'T have to read or respond to everything on the Forum...
and - you are quite at liberty to introduce a topic "of interest" whenever you like - go ahead - and if it is - we'll all join in...
No need to get all shirty.
I just cant believe the level of response to something that really doesnt matter.
If I can think of something more interesting then I will post it (drying times of various types of paint for one)
I thought that forums were a place for everyone to voice their opinions.
Obviousley our opinions on this suject differ, but theres no need to get personnal.

Is that not the very point here re: the findings of the individual versus parental religious rail-roading?thebish wrote:

You're already labelling this as an atheist bus campaign, when it's actually agnostic. Really, Bish. Very poor indeed. What a hypocrite. I thought better of you!
