Tough one, and we (Spain) will be playing second placed on that group on R2

Our qualification group is easy on itself though.

As this World Cup football blog points out, Spain are still favourites despite the fact they could be facing one of those three teams. Spain v Portgual sounds like it should be a semi-final at least. With all these giants facing each other early on, does anyone reckon it could open the way for England?

Yes. But there's the smal matter of a difficult second round tie aginst one of four tough teams. If we get through that, I can't see any reason at this moment in time why we can't beat teams like France, Argentina (particularly if Maradona is still in charge), Mexico or Uruguay. What price a Germany-England semi?

Yes Portugal have been very poor. Cronaldo has also never been as good for them as he has been at club level (I assume because he has played with better players at ManU and Madrid) I actually fancy CIV getting to the second round. I fear them more, although we still should get them if we are able to outplay their phisicality.

Now, if for some bizarre reason Brazil slips (anything can happen in a single game) and we meet them at the first knockout...

Good draw for the USA. Bad draw for Denmark, who I have tickets for. Good news is that the Denmark and USA games are all concentrated in Jo'burg which will save me traveling time and lodging difficulties. Going to try to get some USA tickets and maybe some South Korea (or even North Korea) tickets for the hell of it.

When compared to the other options, or the prospect of shuttling between Jo'burg and Polokwane or Cape Town, say, then yes, that's definitely good news.
