Aren't RATM on Sony?

Oh well - something exquisitely amusing about toys being thrown out of the pram because someone lost a popularity contest.

Chins up, people. It may seem like X Factor and its ilk will last forever, but it won't - same was said of Big Brother.

Generally speaking, times of recession bring better music from thoughtful artists - and it doesn't really matter if they don't "shift units" like the karaoke winners (I've just discovered that the other bloke was covering Miley Cyrus!! Miley f*cking Cyrus!!!)

(Not that I have anything to plug myself... )
Has Big Brother finished now then?
Nope. Saw an ad on Channel 4 last night. Starts again in a week or two.

So a cover of a fooking miley cyrus record is better than RATM?

Right.

Now we know that all Hobinho's views on music can be instantly disregarded.

Having announced four months ago that they're dropping the programme, Channel 4 are merely seeing out the contract - 2010's the last one

Note that Cowell ramped up the demands for next year's X Factor - often, in TV, the sign of a dying franchise

Possibly so, sir, but so did Simon Dee. And Noel's House Party.

It will go. Maybe not next year, but it will. It is the way of things.

WTF does FTW mean?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

I'm sorry, I don't understand FTW at all. Is it shorthand for FACT? (Not the Federation Against Copyright Theft.)

Can it be roughly equated to "'cos I said so" or "so ner"?

For the win.

Or 'feck the world', or 'feed the whales'. But in this case, 'for the win'.

Essentially 'is the best'.

Calm down grandads.

I know what it's supposed to mean, Tom, having read the description above and followed the link and everything. I merely think it's a wank phrase that adds little to the lexicon or vernacular, and therefore don't understand why people would use it. Perhaps that makes me a grandparent.

Agreed when just used normally, but I think it can be quite expressive when used ironically in a 'FML' kinda way. Perhaps that makes me a grandchild :D

I haven't; I was commenting on its use by a TW member whose posts are usually very readable. If you don't wish me to express an opinion on it, I suggest you avoid forums.
