Curbs has been out of the game too long and i doubt he'd migrate ooop North anyway!

Why would Hughes not come? List his clubs...Jokeburn and City! It's not like he's managed anyone who has a much greater pedigree than us (and before the boo boys come, he managed Citeh before the money and before everyone thought as them as a BIG club).

So that's it then........Hughes or Ferguson for me!
i dont know if you know this but peterboro were at the bottom of the league when they sacked ferguson, what makes you think he would be up to the pemiership i for one am thinking frying pan and fire.
am i right or am i right?

I'm formulating my thoughts... Suffice to say I wouldn't have Jewell in the crown...

We don't have a crown. We don't even have a tiara. :-)

I was Jewell and Hughes but I'm leaning towards Coppell for first choice.

I suspect we'll get Alan Irvine or Peter Reid :(

Hi lads, just signed up to discuss the sacking. Anyway I've heard the the latest rumours taking pace are Tony Adams being lined up for the job. What would people think of that ?

I personally would fully back that appointment. He didn't get the time at Pompey IMO and Redknapp had the club in ruins at that stage anyway.

I think we should be realistic the likes of Bilic and Coyle won't be coming IMO. But certainly I would have Adams ahead of alot of names on that list such as Irvine,Davies,Dowie,Warnock,Souness and Jewell.

The likes of Curbs and George Graham are also good shouts.

Curbs for me. We're the right kind of club for him. Adams, is a good coach by any account but isn't the right guy to run a show

Well 1% of us want Paul Jewell & thats about how many wanted Megson, so maybe thats where the smart money is!

Peter Reid's odds tumbling is a worry, Gartside may appoint him to try and appease the fans with the bolton connection but I think he's a yesterday's man.

Hughes or Curbishley for me (asap)

Ok, here is a name I hadn't thought of before.......

Gudni Bergsson.

I would welcome his appointment if we are going down the younger manager route. He was always a very intelligent leader when he played, I feel he would make a great manager. He would be a huge gamble though, although instinctively I feel it would work.

So, Hughes currently has 2/3 of the vote on here.

Good to see the fans go for a manager who is well known for his mastery of our biggest weakness; defensive organisation.

Hughes again could be out of reach, he will probably hold out for a bigger job.

I think Gudni would make a good assistant, but not manager. I heard him on SSN putting his name in the hat. Think most of us would love to see him back at the Reebok in some roll or other, maybe he could sort out our shambles of a defence.

Why should Huges be out of reach? Have people forgotten who he managed before City?

Yes he took Blackburn to 3 top half finishes and Europe, he could only damage his reputation by coming here.

Looking at the betting markets, no-one has a clue yet, except for a bit of money for Peter Reid.

Hughes may well want a bigger job than us, but we could offer him a deal to the end of the season while he's out of work. If he saves us, he enhances his rep, if he doesn't, well he can always say the damage was already done by GM. Just a thought.

Knowing PG, we'll get somebody rubbish like Dowie, Jewell or Reid (or George Burley - perish the thought!). Hoping I'm wrong. Marcus Babbel needs a job - was superb last season, but latterly hounded out of Stuttgart by the boo boys. At least we don't have our goalkeeper saying that the Megson out brigade must be barely through puberty, as mad Jens did over there!

Who would like Big Sam back, who thinks he would come back if Gartside asked him? Personally, I would love it, just love it if he came back. :D

If he can help it I doubt he will jump into a relegation scrap a week after being sacked by a top club.
