Down under, boiling.
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious that that.

theres a good 8 inches on the railing i can see out the window, out the back looks like Lapland. all roads out of here are totally gridlocked even if i could shift the car, plus buses & trams suspended - so the chances of me getting to manc are pretty bleak, plus its getting home again that worries me!

It's still snowing up here now and in the distance out on Chorley Old Road I have only seen two transit vans moving since 7am. No buses up here either.

Its still coming down here in North Bolton aswell. Saw a couple of people walk for a bus about 1/2 hr ago, just seen them walk back. Theres no way I can shift my car, theres a good 8 inches on the ground. And I'm meant to be going away tommorow, all flights out of the North West cancelled at the mo. B*stards.

Left Edgworth at 5.30.
Got to Manchester Airport at 9.00.
Poor little Citroen Saxo didn't know what had hit it, but battled on gamely.
Soon be time to start heading home.
It's rubbish out there; with hindsight, wouldn't have bothered.

Heavy snow everywhere, school closed for the day.

Now I'm on SSN Coyle-Watch duties.

The snow just arrived in the West Midlands in the last hour, and is already piling up.

You've no chance, Chief. A good seven or eight inches here in M27 (where it very rarely snows). My earlier quest to get up to the Rossendale Valley lasted for all of a metre. Whoever came up with low profile tyres wants fecking!

Still, the Merrells might just make it to the pub for lunch. :D

I got to work in Bury via the M60, but luckily I set off at 7.

The fastest I got was 44mph though.

Theres about a foot of snow hereabouts, so no chance of getting me car off the drive. Anyone know if they'll be gritting today/nite, cos I need to get to Liverpool Airport in the morning, and I can always get a Taxi?

See now I set off from Bury at 6:30 destination Warrington. Took me over an hour to get to the M60 whereby I gave up and turned round. Mind, I was back home again in about 10 minutes.

Liverpool airport shut today fella so I'd keep a check on that. It's snowing again quite heavily here again so good luck on that one! It took me 90 minutes to get from the city to Whiston hospital this morning so leave plenty of time.

Taxis sure won't be getting down the side roads here. There's a good foot of snow on the lawns and, although it's eased off some, it's still coming down. Went to the local shop earlier for bread and milk (stock-up). No papers today, no milk deliveries and Warburtons delivered three hours late. Shelves emptied in no time. Took the dog out earlier and he's such a short-ass he almost disappeared. Not good at all and reinforces my views that snow is fine in paintings and on Christmas cards.

Our postman shocked me before by knocking on and delivering the mail. I think he was after a hot drink, the cheeky bastard.

Nope. Its reopened, I've had it on live update since 8.30 this morning. Most flights are making it in. Theres a bus route about 1/3rd of a mile from me, so I could walk to it and get a taxi. Only problem is, they haven't gritted it.

It's coming down heavy again here at the moment so I suppose it all depends on what it's like in the morning.

And the 7 taxi companies I've phoned aren't running anyway. Might walk to town, get a train and stay overnight at the airport. How far from Speke are you? Only with it being close to the water, its usually clear there even when theres snow elsewhere.
