Trouble in the hills

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

I don't care how you look at it.

In our first year under Megson from a very similar position to where Allardyce took over Blackburn we finished 16th.

Last year we finished 13th.

Allardyce finished 15th in his first year so thats one place better off.

They'll do well to finish 13th.

So end result is a very similar performance, least thats how its looking now!
This is just terrible logic. Last season, Megson spent more than £15 million in the summer (£5 million more than Ince). Allardyce took over when Blackburn had only 13 points from 17 games (by my calculations). He spent very little in January, and still finished level on points with Bolton.

This summer, Allardyce spent about the same as Megson (and considerably less in net spend ) and he's ahead of us in the table.

Just goes to show what a poor job Megson did with the resources he had.
Yeah because my original point was that Megson and Allardyce were as good as each other.

In the equivalent time periods the job Allardyce is doing at Blackburn and the job Megson did here, the end results are going to be remarkably similar.

I seem to remember some predicting Allardyce would fire Blackburn into the top half this year, which doesn't look like happening does it?

Another similarity is them selling a star striker in Santa Cruz (not as good as Anelka though for more money sadly), but I don't think he's really seen the money.

Over £20m for Santa Cruz and Matt Derbyshire - but they've bought £10m worth of players: Kalinic who looks too inexperienced, Givet and Chimbonda.

Nevertheless, Blackburn are pretty shit but the half dozen sides below them haven't convinced me they're anything other than that either.

But Athers, we're not allowed to factor in losing your best player(s) when judging a manager

Diouf as well. Salgado, Di Santo (albeit on loan). He spent 6M on Kalinic who looks worse than Elmander!

That may be the case but still....

Mind you'd not trust Allardyce with money after Newcastle. Probably was best as a manager when those "ambitious" free's were still available that was his "thing" and he was the best around at it. Since then he seems to have struggled!

IMHO the game has moved on the likes of BSA and Megson etc haven't, thats why they struggle to cope.
The Epl is based more and more on attack and the days of stifling a team nicking a goal and at worst come out of a game with a draw are dissepearing rapidly.
I was joking about Mandy being dearer but neither of the two players have found their feet, there are better players than them that have struggled to cut it here.

I hope he gets the sack, not through any personal dislike of the fella, his achivements will live with me forever. It's purely just to take some of the heat off of us

If we went on the run that Blackburn have been on under Megson, does anyone think that fans wouldn't be calling for his head?

It'd be a bit silly if we're judging Blackburn fans for doing the same. Suggesting they should be happy with just surviving relegation with shit football is exactly what most on here got angry about when people said it about us post-Megson.

Coz thought our fans were idiots for doing it, am I allowed to think theirs are too?
