Don't Liverpool fans realise that Benitez is doing a good job? It's not his fault they're suffering from delusions of grandeur - they have no divine right to be in the Premier League.
What better manager are they going to find?
Liverpool fans need a huge reality check - they should be grateful for being in the Premier League.

And that comment sums up the sad, glory-hunting camp followers that pass for "fans" at Anfield.Cheese wrote:Taken from RAWK:

Indeed, they'd have to pay something like £20 million to sack him. Nobody could do much with that threadbare squad anyway.William the White wrote:Dunno... my guess is they can't afford to sack him... and what have they got to lose now by keeping him at least till the end of the season?Tombwfc wrote:They're not going to be Leeds MK II, but I can't believe Rafa can keep his job after that, or any Liverpool fan would want him too.
Out of both cups and the Champions League, level on points with Birmingham City. It's not a blip, or a patch of bad form, they're just fecking shite.
Everyone's got a shelf life, Rafa's done.

He's not only a prick, he seems to be deluded too... Have you seen the post match quotes? Seriously, what goes through his head?
"From the beginning of the season we have been a little bit frustrated but we have to carry on. When you are in the race you need to keep going"
What race Rafa, the race for the Europa League spots?
"We are not in the competition [FA Cup] any more. If the critics are fair, then it's OK but it's been the same for three months"
The critics have been fair, your Liverpool side have been awful for the last three months, if not longer.
"Everybody has been talking about me but I'll keep working hard with my team"
Well, that's the problem isn't it? It is your team and you've assembled an awful bunch of players.
Maybe he's just having a laugh because he knows the owners can't afford to sack him...

All teams need that reality check even United who have been relegated before in my living memory and it could happen again if funds stay tight and Ferguson eventually retires. Next season I believe that the big three are going to be Chelsea, City and United in that order and with Arsenal and Villa in a better shape than the Pool, Champions League football could become a thing of the past for Liverpool.Puskas wrote:Don't Liverpool fans realise that Benitez is doing a good job? How are they going to survive without all that extra money. They have struggled for a while and but for Gerrard and Torres they would already be in a mid table position, if they are out or not fully fit for a large part of the rest of the season they will be lucky to finish mid table. They were very lucky to beat us and but for two very soft yellow cards for Davis they would have lost.
Very interesting times ahead me thinks!
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED
Really? Not taken with a touch of hyperbole?! Carragher, Reina, Johnson, Mascherano and Kuyt are all top four players, Benayoun, Agger, Skrtle top 6. Liverpool's problem is only Gerrard and Torres (and maybe Mascherano and Reina) are top 2 players. Thta and the filler in the rest of the squad is toss.BWFC_Insane wrote:If you take Gerrard and Torres out, Liverpool would be scratching around in the bottom 5 and quite possibly going down. I genuinely believe that.
And that Liverpool squad even without Gerrard and Torres still cost more to assemble than BWFC's annual turnover.
Its clear Benitez is totally out of his depth and clueless. He's doing a very good job of completely destroying Liverpool which is good news for me!
Leeds mk 2 is a distinct possibility here and you can see it happening especially with the clown in charge!

Sorry Pru I just disagree really. On paper Liverpool should be ok without Torres and Gerrard but when you watch them like last night, you really think that is an incredibly poor side.Prufrock wrote:Really? Players like Babel might actually shine at a lesser club where they are coaxed into performances but at Liverpool they just look shocking.
The players you listed are fair enough (apart from Kuyt who is utter utter shite and Carragher who is way past his sell by date) but they don't seem to produce. Benayoun is probably their only attacking threat once Gerrard and Torres are out, and I could well imagine a team with Benayoun as their main attacking threat going down (as good a player as Yossi is).
Last night Reading didn't just beat them but they actually deserved it. You could of course say the same kind of things about Man Utd but the difference is there that their manager has proven time and time again the ability to re-build teams from nowhere.
Benitez has sunk a lot of money into that team one way or another but apart from Torres its hard to see a "buy" that stands out yes a few are good players but Megson bought good players here as well, its about creating an effective team. And they're miles off, absolutely miles.
If they fail to qualify for the champions league I could well see Torres being sold along with a few others. It could really be a slippery slope IMO, though I don't think they'll let it get that way!

Can't agree there. Yes, he has his limitations, but he's a useful player to have around. You don't get as many caps as he has for the Netherlands as an attacker if you're utter utter shite.BWFC_Insane wrote:(apart from Kuyt who is utter utter shite )

While Liverpool might be playing crap I do not buy into they are only 2 players away from a relegation scrap. Their biggest problem is that their manager has lost the plot and presently seems to be in over his head, and yes he is a prick. Unfortunately for Liverpool they can't afford to do the obvious thing required which is to sack the manager.
Last season some of the best football they played was when both Gerrard and Alonso were injured.

Hmmm, I think you have to give him Reina and Mascherano as well, which his critics would say shows when he does have big money, he tends to spend it wisely (though no doubt his critics would have Keane, Johnson and Aquilani lined up, though whether the first was his signing, and the other two can be judged yet I'd be sceptical).BWFC_Insane wrote:Sorry Pru I just disagree really. Certainly they were shocking last night, and I think Benitez is on borrowed time, they appear rudderless, and leaderless at the moment, he seems resigned that things aren't going their way, and negativity breeds poor results which breeds more negativity. Based solely on their players you'd have to say they are still definitely a top 6 team, but even perfomances they're still midtable at worst. Though that obviously isn't good enough given the money they've spent.
