Today I'm angry about.....

It's not too late to stop Mr Cameron's trojan horse of horrors being unelashed... and personally, I find the idea of turning the other cheek to fellow humans in need to be right-wing moral bankruptcy at its worst.Worthy4England wrote:It's good to know the traditional Tory values of me, me, me and me, that got them kicked out in the 1990's are still alive and well and just waiting to come gushing to the fore after a while in the wilderness...
I suspect it evolved from the sense of "dead" meaningly "unerringly accurate" - as in "dead shot"TANGODANCER wrote:Rarely angry, more puzzled or curious, but why do people use the word "dead" in front of expressions. Even my good wife said at lunch time: "Be careful, the soup's dead hot". How can hot be dead? Why do people say, dead-fast, dead-cool, dead- good? To me dead is lifeless, soulless, nothingness. Where the hell did that come from?
and naturally came to mean "very" by a fairly straightforward route through "accurately" - "assuredly" - "very"

Trojan horse of horrors. That's good.
What's Brown's gonna be called then? The pissed up donkey of dithering ineptitude?
it'll be like voting for a kick in the knackers - a dose of piles - or David Cameron - in my book, Cameron will still come third...superjohnmcginlay wrote:ratbert wrote:It's not too late to stop Mr Cameron's trojan horse of horrors being unelashed... and personally, I find the idea of turning the other cheek to fellow humans in need to be right-wing moral bankruptcy at its worst.Worthy4England wrote:It's good to know the traditional Tory values of me, me, me and me, that got them kicked out in the 1990's are still alive and well and just waiting to come gushing to the fore after a while in the wilderness...![]()

Take yer own tea bags next time and ask them for a cup of hot water. Most will let you have the cup of water if you say its for some medical thing or other...Worthy4England wrote:It was the only outlet serving drinks in the hospital. Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I presume they have the warning on the cup these days after someone sued McDonalds for daring to sell them hot coffee without telling them it was hotGary The Beaver wrote:Scalding?Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Take yer own tea bags next time and ask them for a cup of hot water. You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.
