I hate the stuff, but that's not the problem for me - more how the country has become OBSESSED with it. It seems as though nothing can be done without people having a coffee first, if not, things are done 'over a coffee'. What the feck is that all about?TANGODANCER wrote:Coffee (white of course) for me, needs two sugars and a decent slug of Fundador and then becomes quite a passable drink. Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

coffee intake down to two a day - used to be many more...
first absolutely essential, after breakfast, dinky espresso machine I love, a double shot and hot milk, and guardian sports pages...
second - not always taken but often enough, about 4.00 in office, cafeteria and really, really delicious fat-free coffeemate... mmm...
single shot espresso after meal out close to essential, often with brandy...

i likes coffee, but can never be arsed making it - not properly anyway. also it leaves your breath RANK!
so when its a choice of instant coffee or tea - id choose tea, but always have coffee in a restaurant or cafe becuase its done properly.
quite fancy one of them plunger jobs, but havent a friggin clue what they are about or how you use em etc, and it will just end up at the back of the cupboard with the toasty machine and George Formby grill*.
cant stand sugar in either though!
(* thats hoestly waht she calls it! daft bint!)

obviously ive seen the yuppies on the tele pushing them down n'that - cant be too difficult, but what is it for, and what coffee do you stick in it, presumably you dont use some freeze dried tasteless choice, you gotta be using some gormet shit in that mother... oops, slipped into Jools Winfield then.. ahem, so to speakBWFC_Insane wrote:You struggle with a coffee plunger?General Mannerheim wrote:i likes coffee, but can never be arsed making it - not properly anyway. also it leaves your breath RANK!

A cafetière... yeah, they're ok, definitely preferable to instant coffee, which is completely undrinkable. The coffee that comes in them comes in resealable bags and is a lot fresher and finer.General Mannerheim wrote: obviously ive seen the yuppies on the tele pushing them down n'that - cant be too difficult, but what is it for, and what coffee do you stick in it, presumably you dont use some freeze dried tasteless choice, you gotta be using some gormet shit in that mother... oops, slipped into Jools Winfield then.. ahem, so to speak

That pajamas thing. Christ who cares? As long as folk cover up their bits what they wear really isn't anyone's business. Unless there's a guy wearing a t-shirt with '(your name) is a paedo', or someone's taken pictures of your children and photoshopped them onto the bodies of famous dictators, you really shouldn't care. I say the same whenever Burkhas come up, if what somebody else wears offends you, if it even mildly riles you, you've got proper issues, coz it really is unimportant.
I've never done it myself, but I've been in in some odd, quickly thrown on garb (no pink dressing gown's before any asks, I never want to see that picture again!) when it's late at night, and I fancy some schmokes, or a pizza and it's only over the road. Doesnae matter. Doesn't even nearly matter.

It's very simple, general. Grind some coffee beans coarse. Place about four table spoons in the pot 9assuming it is normal size), pour in boiling water and attach plunger at top with plunger up. Wait four minutes and push plunger down. Drink.General Mannerheim wrote:obviously ive seen the yuppies on the tele pushing them down n'that - cant be too difficult, but what is it for, and what coffee do you stick in it, presumably you dont use some freeze dried tasteless choice, you gotta be using some gormet shit in that mother... oops, slipped into Jools Winfield then.. ahem, so to speakBWFC_Insane wrote: You struggle with a coffee plunger?

Regarding the basic argument, sophisticated people (like what I am) have cafe au lait at breakfast, tea in mid-morning, beer with lunch, tea in the afternoon and some wine with the evening meal, followed possibly with a demi tasse of hot, black, sweet coffee with the liqueur. So there is a place for everything.
"If you cannot answer a man's argument, all it not lost; you can still call him vile names. " Elbert Hubbard.
