Very graceful thing to do.. But if he didn't agree to plau for free, they wouldn't want him beyond his contract. I know he's been injured, but even pre-injury, he looked poorH. Pedersen wrote:Onyewu agrees to play for free for AC Milan after missing entire season through injury:

No, they wouldn't want him, but he could get a paying job elsewhere.boltonboris wrote:Very graceful thing to do.. But if he didn't agree to plau for free, they wouldn't want him beyond his contract. It's a weird one. Graceful of him even if it only a gesture. What happens if he gets to that final year and isn't playing? Presumably he can buy his contract out.....for nothing? So it might not actually mean anything, because to be honest, if AC have designs on getting back to the top, he isn't good enough. It's not quite Joseba Exteberria, but commendable gesture either way.H. 2 Divisions IIRC... He was also the major campaigner in changing the name back from 1890 Viola (or somesuch) to FiorentinaPrufrock wrote:Bloody hell, I'd forgotten he existed! Aye, it's like him too. How far back up did they get when he was still there?

Didn't the Italian FA then do a major cop-out and just promote them about 4 divisions, or have I made that up?boltonboris wrote:2 Divisions IIRC... Almost... At first they were relegated to Serie C2, after winning that the League format changed, which meant Serie B were to accomodate 24 teams rather than 20. Viola were automatically awarded promotion to Serie B due to 'sporting merit'. So in efect they were 'only' handed promotion 1 divisionPrufrock wrote:Didn't the Italian FA then do a major cop-out and just promote them about 4 divisions, or have I made that up?boltonboris wrote:2 Divisions IIRC...
