Benitez .... prick

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Guarantee it'll be the usual "the ref saw the incident so we can't do any more about it"

Will it fook.

HRG is probably right though, ref saw it blah blah can't do anything.

Whelan says: "Liverpool are in a mess. The owners, being American, I don't think they feel what we [as fans] feel. I'm really, really sorry for their supporters. We went to Anfield earlier in the season and there's absolutely no atmosphere and no heart at all at present. The supporters feel that and I think the players are starting to feel it."

Benitez says - Whelan should mind his own business and worry about his own club.

Is the the same Benitez who took time out after the Blackburn game to slate Allardyce and Blackburn?

if it was - he'd be a HypoPrick, surely?

Ah I see. So law 12 of the game needs amending slightly then.

A caveat needs inserting that if you're frustrated and losing the game, you are allowed a brief hissy fit and able to make abusive gestures in these circumstances

Glad that's cleared up

Can Lee have his booking recinded then, that was only a 'moment of frustration', as is pretty much every example of dissent, ever.

FA, bottled it? NEVER!!!!

The FA shared his view that it was a momentary show of frustration at the prospect of a ninth Barclays Premier League defeat this season for Liverpool, and that the matter could be dropped.
Oh, right ok.

To lose both looks like carelessness

Its uncanny really. I wonder if he signed a fullback this year when he really needed a midfielder, just after selling one of his better ones who was out of form and favour?

Definition of a prick? How about a manager who sets his side out for a 0-0 draw against a team which, as this Europa League football blog points out, have scored in every one of their last 20 league and european games.

Surely he's going beyond being a prick and into the realms of having a laugh?

I have a patchy stream but I'm positive Gerrard has just punched Michael Brown in the back of the head as he ran across him. He's not happy about anyway, neither are some of the other pompey lads.

EDIT: Benitez has just brought him off, presumably because he knows he'd be in for a bit of treatment after that.

Can anybody confirm?

Also, co-commentator is a scouser and has done nothing but talk up Liverpool and the ref. Nice and impartial there ESPN... Well done

According to the Beeb:

"Michael Brown - not everybody's favourite player by any stretch - has clearly got up Steven Gerrard's nose and, for my money, the Liverpool skipper is lucky to remain on the field after slamming a forearm into the back of the Pompey midfielder's head. Referee Stuart Atwell gives the foul but nothing more, and I have to say that's a big let-off. Rafael Benitez immediately subs Gerrard and on comes Yossi Benayoun."

Just seen another replay. Disgusting, but the ref has seen it and dealt with it, so nothing (Yet, yet, yet, yet again) will be done. Atwell is having a shocker tonight.

It's ok, it was just a show of frustration, or self-defence....
