At the moment Gary Megson's 7/4 favourite to be Hulls manager.
(Ian Dowie 7/2)

I personally think he would keep them up if he was given the chance, i doubt very much he will be though.
Not if the Hull fans have a say anyway..!

Yep, but here he had some world class players to work with (Anelka, Diouf, Campo in addition to the likes of Jussi, Davies, Gardner, Nolan), even if the club was in a mess.Tombwfc wrote:If he got the results there that he got here (survival, 13th, fecked off in enough time to bring in a talented young local hero), they'd all take it in a heartbeat. Even if it meant them losing 1,500 fans (or whatever it was Worthy worked out the other day on here).
And he had two thirds of the season left, and we were in touch with the other teams even if we did have 5 points from 10 games. And we still were very, very lucky to stay up.
There he has nine games - and they are have taken 32 points from the last 49 games for a reason. Meggo doesn't strike me as the type to have that dramatic, inspiring effect.
They could do a lot worse than Megson though, even though the fans wouldn't like it it would we worth the agro if he could keep them up. Which he may just do. But he would have to win some away games to do it.
Portsmouth (A)
Fulham (H)
Stoke (A)
Burnley (H)
Birmingham (A)
Sunderland (H)
Wigan (A)
Liverpool (H)
Plus another postgame game against I don't know who which has yet to be rearranged! I assume that its against one of the teams still in Europe!
Not a bad run of games, even Liverpool at home last game could be a winner if the Pool are already out of top 4 contention! With the right manager and an upsurge of commiment and energy they could survive. Unlikely but not impossible!

Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

I think they're being totally unfair to him, poor lad.

That's an old quote so I guess it was said with humour. Was it Ron Atkinson who first said it? I forget.Zulus Thousand of em wrote:Nowt to do with the thread but you've just reminded me of a comment from a Sky News presenter last week.bobo the clown wrote: I don't know about deja-vu, but it's got a very familiar ring to it.

According to the Mail ,Hull are to try to install Mark Hughes as manager.
I doubt he would be tempted myself.
LINK http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... Brown.html
Hull hope Hughes can be tempted, even on a short-term deal until the end of the season with a massive bonus for staving off relegation.
The news emerged just as it looked as if former Bolton manager Gary Megson, who was in hospital with kidney stones on Monday, would be taking over the hot seat.
However, the £1million transfer fee to be paid to Bolton, who are still paying his wages, is putting off Hull.
Iain Dowie, Paul Jewell and Doncaster's highly rated manager Sean O'Driscoll were other contenders, although Alan Curbishley has been ruled out.

The world of football is mental. You can be proven to be utter shite in the top flight, and still get jobs there, but no matter how well you are doing one league down, you are always 'unproven'. On what planet either Iain Dowie is a better shout than O'Driscoll is beyond me.

On the planet where you aren't going to pay compensation to get a manager for 9 games.Prufrock wrote:The world of football is mental. Nor is a manager going to leave a permanent secure position for a "9 game" cameo.
Why does it have to be a cameo? Get in O'Driscoll, if he keeps them up great, if he doesn't, you have a young hungry manager who is 'proven' at Championship level. Used to working on a small budget, and gets results.BWFC_Insane wrote:On the planet where you aren't going to pay compensation to get a manager for 9 games.Prufrock wrote:The world of football is mental. It seems that they only want someone till the end of the season. I guess its "hedge your bets".Prufrock wrote:Why does it have to be a cameo? O'Driscoll won't be that cheap as thats what put Burnley off. My guess is IF Hull go down they will go into administration pretty quickly and probably at that point will want to re-assess their options.
I think if I was O'Driscoll I'd rather stay at Doncaster for now than move to Hull right now.
I didn't realise Hull were that fooked financially? If so then fair enough. I'd be staying at DOncaster too. Don't understand why Burnley didn't go for O'Driscoll over Laws though!BWFC_Insane wrote:It seems that they only want someone till the end of the season. 'Ethics' you can't poach a manager if he's already in a job.. I still think to this day they were being martyrs after we took Coyle off of themPrufrock wrote:I didn't realise Hull were that fooked financially? If so then fair enough.
