Benitez .... prick

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Bloody hell. As Malc says it doesn't look that bad till you see it from the side. This the ref saw it needs sorting too. He's seen it from the back, where it just looks like he's shoved him as he comes across him. Fair enough the FA want to try to keep the power in the hands of the ref as much as possible, but no-one expects them to be able to have the perfect view all the time, and there should be measures. If the ref hasn't seen something, they show a video and he recommends what action he would have taken if he had seen it, why can't they do the same if he sees it from an unclear angle?

This, incidentally is the same ref who gave the phantom goal in the Watford v QPR match. What a future he has in football. Worrying thing is, the FA fast-tracked him as they believe he's one of the best in the country. I foresee a lot of 'little' clubs bemoaning their 'luck' with this ref in the near and far future

If the referee sees it and punishes it, then rules say that has to stand.

If he doesn't see it then he can review his decision.

Either he feels he saw it & a simple free-kick is satisfactory. In which case the FA have to suspend him for incompetence.

or

He has since reviewd it & feels his original decision was correct ... ditto.

or

He's been got at.

I'm inclined to think that is far fetched, but when you see this so clearly, his decision to hold to his first judgement is utterly, utterly bizarre.

Either he has to receive punishment, or Gerrard does.

When will they untie their hands from this ridiculous rule they've placed upon themselves? Referees make mistakes, we can accept that. What I can't accept is that we can't retrospectively address that mistake.

They'll probably review it just in time to review a Jussi kick and decide it was 7 seconds after all and apply a retrospective red card and 3 match ban

Anticipate a new member on this site any time soon ...
Liverpool winger Albert Riera has hit out at manager Rafael Benitez and said: "His dialogue with the players is practically zero."

Riera also branded the Reds a "sinking ship".

The full interview
The team's playing badly and needs changes. It is a sinking ship. But in the two years I have been here Benitez has never managed a situation with a player by talking to him.

“He thinks he is the boss and everyone else is deaf. The dialogue with the players is practically zero. It is non-existent and there is a lack of tact.

"When the coach doesn't say anything to you and you are in good shape and training well, you have to believe the reason you’re dropped is personal.

“If I'm doing something badly and you're my boss and you trust in me, then you would tell me what I am doing wrong and what I have to do to play. But he has said nothing, and that is what hurts most.”

Riera appears desperate to get away from Liverpool, particularly with his chances of World Cup selection diminishing. He is even prepared to move to the Russian league, which is the only transfer market currently open, in order to secure playing time.

Riera continued, "Right now the only market open is the Russian one. I have offers from two clubs and, given my situation, that has made me reflect a lot ... My objective is to go to the World Cup and for that to happen I have to play."

He concluded by rubbishing Benitez's chances of becoming the next Real Madrid coach, saying, "At Madrid they ask you to win and play beautiful football and I see this a difficult thing for him. We are effective, sure, but we don't play brilliant football,

“Things need to change, but weeks go by and nothing happens, nothing changes.”
So his own players know he's a shit manager. We know he's a shit manager. Some Liverpool fans have also woken up and realised he's a shit manager.

Wonder when Benitez will realise this?

Albert Riera. Such a hit at City and now Liverpool. When will managers realise this talented and game-changing player needs a team building around him

Anyway I reckon this is the start of the last knockings for Fat Rafa. Gone in the summer I do believe.

We'll have to start another thread then. I'll miss him personally.

I'd have a reasonable sum of money on him being our manager for the first game of next season.

How much would it cost to sack him? And would that be the reason he'll be staying?

Assuming that the majority of his backroom team would go as well, we're talking a very significant sum of money. For the lot of them, I'd be surprised if there was much change from £20m, given that he signed a 5 year deal not that long ago.

Yes, that's certainly one of the reasons why sacking him is a colossally bad idea. He may, of course, get a job offer from elsewhere and choose to leave, which wouldn't cost anything, but I think him leaving voluntarily is as unlikely as us sacking him.
