I was speaking to a mate who supports the EDL stuff and I give him grief about it all the time, he doesn't really understand what the EDL claim to stand for, he's just racist imo so latches on to them to in some way validate his beliefs

something interesting he said to me in relation to the 'football risk', which is more what he is part of in my opinion, is that due to Burnley being away at Wigan some of their 'football risk' fans will be getting involved as they travel via Bolton to the game....he also said they plan on having a ruck with the Bolton 'football risk' as well as supporting the EDL march

its a mentality that too many people have, it will always be there...its a shame

There'd be a lot less bother if the other lot didn't turn up. And a lot less media attention for the EDL.

Why can't we rope off Victoria Square and film it for a reality TV show like Last Man Standing?

Anything goes. Guns, Bats, Gouging, Windmilling et al.

That way those who want to shop can circumnavigate via Le Mans Crescent or the Arndale.

Should also be good 'live' entertainmnent for those who don't make the Everton away game.

There have been Jews and Moslems in this country far longer than the Church of England.

Is it that they are campaigning against Moslem fundamentalists?

Why are they protesting in a town that has no history of it, then?

In other words, are they protesting because of our large asian (mainly Pakistani but not all) population in the hope of provoking a reaction?

I support the EDL's main objective of removing Islamic fundamentalism from our nation. As I would Christian/Jewish fundamentalism.

Am I Pond Life for being pround of my country and it's traditions?

I would never attend a EDL event as these public protests get infiltrated by the lunatic fringe.

"I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
I await your plan of action against christian fundamentalism with bated breath... how many rallies so far?
Well they could stop knocking on your door at the weekend and posting God mail!!
The EDL is a specifically anti-moslem organisation... And i don't buy the 'oppositon to fundamentalism' bit... these guys are racists, xenophobes, and they operate in the shadow of gas chambers... There's an efficient way of removing Islamic fundamentalism...
Why is it that anyone who does not like immigration on the scale we are subjected too has the "Gas chamber", "Nazi" thing thrown at them? Or are the other lot happy to be called terrorists, Bin laden supporters suicide bombers etc?
I didn't call you 'pond life' - i don't know you, and have no way of knowing what you mean by our country's history and traditions... you call it 'my' - but it's mine as much as yours - Some are worthy of pride, others more suited to shame, in my view...
Let he who is without sin William!
In any case, judging from your last comment, you support, to the death, my right to call the EDL 'pond life'?

not sure what you mean? i'm not saying i agree or disagree with anything the EDL stand for...i'm saying a mate of mine follows them but only because he has racist views not because of the reasons the group exists, I think he latches on to them as he sees its as a way to kind of justify his views...i disagree with the fact that people use the group to exercise their dislike of other races

That would defintely be nice of them but its relevance to anything anyone's posted on this thread is wide of the mark, even for you, hobo...

That would defintely be an unreasonable thing to do. And so, i don't do it.

Some of my best friends are slurry pit inhabitants. They are very nice people once you get to know them. In fact, one glorious summer, while on holiday from University I worked for a Geordie company called Slurry Seal, laying the top of the M6 hard shoulder between Carnforth and Carlisle. Really enjoyed it. In our view it was the 'too good to hurry seal.

Rights and wrongs aside, it's worth remembering that there's a percentage of idiots in every race, creed or colour on earth. It's usually them that are on parade as the representitives of right and justice. Just to keep it in proportion. Any issues can obviously be resolved by one faction knocking seven bells out of the other.

"Our countries histories and traditions" Hmmmmm... Let me see. Murder, War, Occupation, Forcing our beliefs on others for centuries and killing / hurting those who don't conform? That about sums it up for me, or do you mean, for Queen and country and all that bollocks?

We did all that, true, but only for their own good, those lesser breeds without the law, and they should be grateful for it. Oh yes, we took up the white man's burden, and some are prepared to do it still... Heroes, every one of em.
