Negative fooker. How about science, industry, engineering, english literature, football, cricket, and most importantly public houses.boltonboris wrote:"Our countries histories and traditions" Hmmmmm... Let me see. Murder, War, Occupation, Forcing our beliefs on others for centuries and killing / hurting those who don't conform? That about sums it up for me, or do you mean, for Queen and country and all that bollocks?

Don't forget it was the Vikings and Romans who taught us all we needed to know
They rob, pillage and question their sexual identity...

How many other countries march the streets having a go at peop,e who have done the same as them and then have the cheek to call them 'fundamentalists'. It's not about religious beliefs... It's an excuse to kick a 'paki's' head in because he's a 'paki'. If anybody thinks differently, then they're naive to say the least.Hobinho wrote:Come on smarty pants name some names of countries who have not got that hidden in their past!boltonboris wrote:"Our countries histories and traditions" Hmmmmm... They all get kitted out in Stone Island gear, wear a badge with "EDL, BWFC BRANCH. NO SURRENDER" on it (I've seen them) and have a ruck with the oppo or the police. None of it is policitical, religious or even logical, but it's another form of football hooliganism, because that's shrniking, they need another excuse. Asians are that excuse
"I've got the ball now. It's a bit worn, but I've got it"
So what excuse will the mini bus loads and coveys of Asians heading to town from Bradford, Oldham, burnley and dingle town have?boltonboris wrote:How many other countries march the streets having a go at peop,e who have done the same as them and then have the cheek to call them 'fundamentalists'. None, none at all. But the EDL league think they are 'better' than these people and are usually outraged at their audacity by coming out to play. That's the hypocricy of it all. The real bit that gets me is our council tax will go up next year to repair the damage, pay police overtime and the tax rates in general will go up to cover the costs of court cases, legal aid and inprisonment that will follow.boltonboris wrote:None, none at all. Generalising a bit there BWFC-Insane, or watching too much Midsomer Murders? Walking to work was a reality brought on by poverty, not an image anybody wants to remember or return. Crime has always been there, although on a more minor scale and its increase is as much to do with our soft society as it is with anything else. Having lived in a country village, I can assure you that just as much intruige, scandal, back-biting, gossip and fisticuffs goes on as anywhere else. I also doubt greatly that the people who use expressions like "dirty Muslims" are hardly those who would want family picnics on village greens. Even an old fogey like me accepts that the world has moved on, although not always for the better, but minority idiot fringes have been around long, long before I was.BWFC_Insane wrote: I love the image of "old" England that some people seem to have of picnics on the village green where everyone knew everyone else, there was no crime, people walked to work and there were no dirty muslims or paedo's to ruin everything!

something interesting he said to me in relation to the 'football risk', which is more what he is part of in my opinion, is that due to Burnley being away at Wigan some of their 'football risk' fans will be getting involved as they travel via Bolton to the game....he also said they plan on having a ruck with the Bolton 'football risk' as well as supporting the EDL march
its a mentality that too many people have, it will always be there...its a shame
Which bit of 'what they claim to stand for' do you disagree with
Only a wanker could disgree with them
The EDL claim to be pretty much a one issue campaign group
They are anti Jihadist
Anybody who isn't really does need a lethal injection
If you want to tell me a significant number of EDL leaders/supporters are racist thugs, I'll accept that

Has it? Or is it that crime is more widely reported due to the fact that you can read about it, watch it and listen to it all in the same 10 minutes through various means? My Dad has told me some horrendous stories about his freinds and himself in some right scrapes, including knife crime, organised crime, football holligansim all on your doorstep on a regular basis, you couldn't go to a pub without seeing somebody stabbed in the 60's. It isn't like that now....TANGODANCER wrote:Generalising a bit there BWFC-Insane, or watching too much Midsomer Murders? Anything goes. Guns, Bats, Gouging, Windmilling et al.
That way those who want to shop can circumnavigate via Le Mans Crescent or the Arndale.
Should also be good 'live' entertainmnent for those who don't make the Everton away game.
There have been Jews and Moslems in this country far longer than the Church of England.

I like to think I nurtured your infant idea into a full-blown 'let's get Simon Cowell and his production crew involved' pitch.Prufrock wrote:Oi, we get joint credit for that. We could have franchises in Kashmir, the Iran/Iraq border. North and South Korea, the Canadian Frontier and the Pennines.

Really? Unless you're talking about London or Glasgow, on both counts I totally disagree. Scrapping, quite common in the rougher pubs (and I went in places like The Griffin in the sixties). I also spent a lot of time around Manchester, Bury, Rochdale etc, and all the news-making crime was usually Mods and Rocker gangs kicking shxt out of each other at weekends. Organised crime was Kray twin and Richardson throw-back wannabees etc, in the big cities. I did make the point that crime was nothing new, but proportionally there's no comparison between the sixties and today. How many stabbings per week occur today?boltonboris wrote: you couldn't go to a pub without seeing somebody stabbed in the 60's. It isn't like that now....

What percentage of them are reported now? And back then? People look back on happy memories, forgetting the negativeness (As they do with Sunny days, foggy days, Snowey days "You don't get weather like that anymore" kind of things). People look back at the times like when the Krays were chased out of Manchester, with a wry smile and sigh of 'Them were't days lad' but now the same thing is deemed more unacceptable now, than it was then. Gang numbers were much greater too!TANGODANCER wrote:Really? Unless you're talking about London or Glasgow, on both counts I totally disagree. People look to the past with "rose tinted" spectacles. You hear them ringing in to radio talk shows all the time.
"When I was a lad we didn't have no ethnics and there was no crime and you knew all your neighbours and England was a mass of green villages and there was no political correctness so we could call a black a black etc etc".
People that are essentially deluded.
As Boltonboris says its all about perception not reality.
Yeah but these "gangs" were not 10 yr olds!! like a certain geezer who shall remain nameless but should have been fried!!!!boltonboris wrote:What percentage of them are reported now? And back then? People of any era look back on happy memories. Doesn't mean we delude ourselves abut the bad bits. "Ee, when I were a lad" is probably far more quoted by mockers today than any of those that actually said it. For the older genearation, war and its aftermath, its poverty and harder life, are still too vivid a memory to get as deluded as the younger folk make out.boltonboris wrote: People look back on happy memories, forgetting the negativeness (As they do with Sunny days, foggy days, Snowey days "You don't get weather like that anymore" kind of things). The "happy days" English people are as stereotyped as every Spaniard wearing a flat hat, riding a mule and playing a guitar.

And are we saying crime gangs are "ok" so long as they're old enough?
